'Everton will always be a football club"

Just go back to your tanning bed FFS.

Have to agree, I know that talking in front of a camera is not the only skill one looks for in a CEO, but he is particularly unimpressive in this respect.

Should have been a very interesting interview, as it appears we are breaking the mold in terms of recruiting internationally and from an Olympic body - would have been far more interesting to hear from Peter Vint himself.

He's nowhere near that level.

He wont have the bulk of his career at CB, I'm almost certain of that. As said, it's only the conceit of coaches who believe they can bring him to greatness. A few massively costly errors and they'll soon learn to move him in front of the back four.

Honest to God, they must think because he's been here at Everton then he just needs some 'expert' coaching to set him right. They'll learn the hard way how misguided that view is. He's hopeless at defending against quality and always will be.

You are very wrong David.

Dr Peter Vint was an interesting signing last year, he should have been the person speaking considering his work with the US team.

Would be also very interesting to know more on how he will work alongside Walsh given that Elstone is talking about closer intergration between the academy and the first team. The model I assumed was that Walsh would be setting standards across the club, not only in his work with Koeman and the first team.

I think you are will be proven to be horribly wrong. He's perfect for the way Pep plays and will go on to be one of the top CBs in the world. I also doubt he will start for Big Sam and that will be the England story everyone debates for the next 4-6 years like Rooney today.

It's ironic how the media are falling over themselves praising stones, when frankly in the 3 games he's had to play he (and the back 4 in general) have barely had anything to do. Presenter on talksport today 'spoke about stones being back to his best' 'being at city is developing him already' implying that we were holding him back. The whole team were held back by Martinez in the last 2 years, not just stones. I still stand by my argument earlier in the window, that john stones could learn as much from koeman (one of the greatest defenders of his generation) as he will do at City. But hey the lad has probably trebled his pay packet and will be contesting winning titles this season, so you can't blame him for moving.

busquets flatters to decieve tho. im thinking more of a pique type defender, but im not sure he has the mentality for that. only time will tell. be interesting to see what happens. could even end up as the next rodwell. he was signed up by city as 'the nxt big England star'

edit: regards busquets , am i actually being harsh on him, maybe he's the one who does all the boring work for the team, that goes un-noticed
He is. He's the best in that position in the league. Keeps the ball moving, fantastic defender that lets the rest plays and can receive the ball and not lose it in tight situations.

Guardiola adapted Martinez into a CB at Bayern; dont be surprised if he does the reverse with Stones when the errors mount up..

You should throw your hat into the ring for Elstone's job. :bye:

No one seems to be talking about Moshiri in the Moshiri thread, I'll bring it back, we would not have signed Koeman had he not been here, that already is more than the previous lot did.

A new 'head of technical scouting', whose name escapes me, was appointed a couple of weeks back. Maybe we always had one and now it is a different name, but it does sound like a Walsh innovation.
