Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

Exactly mate.

Look, I know I'm positive on here and that's because I'm firmly sure that the club is heading in the right direction.

However, I would have liked a bit more of our business done but really I always half-suspected stuff would go to the wire.

It's just how it is - for a lot of clubs not just us.

People keep saying about how others 'around us' have strengthened, but let's just look at who we're realistically going to be competing with this year considering our aim is top six.

Liverpool - added a load of attacking players yet still can't defend. Oh, and their £150mil attacking line managed 4 against an Arsenal side with a 20-year-old and 21-year-old at the back who have just over 20 PL apps between them.

Chelsea - Conte is a superb manager but they've found it hard to attract big names and that team still needs a massive re-build. They've scraped past an out-of-form West Ham and just beat Watford, following it up with a cagey win over Bristol Rovers. Loads of work for them to do, and they have only made two additions. Kante yes is brilliant, but Batshuayi is young and unproven and will be liable to the inconsistencies that come with that.

Stoke - their one addition is Joe Allen.

Southampton - the lad from Bayern looks good, but again they've sold their best players and have a new manager in.

West Ham - loads of injuries to key players. Look half the team they did last year when Payet isn't playing.

Leicester - we'll see. Glad they've kept hold of their better players, bar Kante, but they'll find it a lot more difficult this year.

Spurs - again, see how they cope with CL. They've made two additions so far, mainly to help them with rotation.

I do believe that with a better manager in we could get somewhere this season.

the massive reflection of last year was because of our manager's poor managing skills we lost out on europa and more specifically would have been touching distance of 4th. Think i worked it out and we would have been roughly where southampton finished ironically, 3 points or so off city. So fast forward to this season and i can see us replacing southampton league wise, so roughly 6th. IF and that is a big if we can pick consistency up then there is no reason we can't have a season like west ham did last year, where the difference between 4th and 7th ended up being us injuring Payet at the time. In march, beating us was their 3rd win in a week so that is what i mean about consistency, win the games we should be winning and picking up points in the away games that we should be losing.

It is a long season, and we will inevitably go through a rough patch, but if we can balance the squad and bring in joe hart alone, that could be the difference for 10 points alone better off from last year.

Though I like being on this side of a tedious, public transfer saga a bit more, it is disappointing to see Kone act like a bit of a Ted. Rate him as a player but you can get your move whilst also getting your head down and doing your job. He's only been there 6 months ffs.
Well said mate. Agreed.

Was gonna copy and paste the text from my Sunderland mate but It'd get flagged for language!

To summarise, if Kone wants to f off and they get good money he'd rather that than a player who doesn't want to be there disrupting everything.

I really hope we don't sign this bloke.

I hate the way these pampered buggers down tools in order to force a move from a club which gave them a very lucrative contract and just leave a very decent football club in the lurch.

I didn't like it when Lescott did it to us and I am not going to be a hypocrite about it now

He was obviously given permission to officially begin talks with Everton at one stage and either Sunderland changed their minds or moved the goalposts which is perhaps why he feels so aggrieved. He has hardly covered himself in glory but Sunderland didn't make him feel very wanted when Everton first made their move.

I know what you mean, but at least he hasn't gone on to the pitch and purposely lost them three points to get his way.
