A talented player who is here to give his all is a better addition than a galactico who arrives with an entourage and sees himself as bigger than the club. There are many examples of this through the years, the biggest being Asprilla at Newcastle who was brought in as the superstar to seal the title. The exact opposite occurred.

A polite way for a footballer to turn a club down that they don't think is big enough is to say they wanted European football when in fact 90% of them would still go to teams like Chelsea.
A good example is Lukaku, said he wanted champions league football but he would have gone to Man Utd, Chelsea etc. They're normally either trying to say they want more money, or failing that want a bigger club.

I know but it proves that it's not being in European football that's the reason they're not joining. What they're really saying is "I don't think you'll be in European football on a consistent basis eg, you're not a big enough club.
