Can't believe the negativity on here. We drew against a good team despite being pretty clearly short on fitness and options off the bench. Those problems should be fixed with some time. And we were well in the game for the first 60 minutes. The announcers even said Spurs goal was against the run of play at the time

Don't be surprised mate - there is a percentage of posters on here who prefer defeat - gives them something to do.

..yep, I understand that but we didn't have any threat in the 2nd half. Poch clearly sorted Spurs out but we had little or no threat. When we are under pressure we need to counter with real pace and direction, I never thought we looked likely to score.
We were knackered after the effort put into the 1st half. You can't judge the performance of the 2nd half without first seeing the 1st half.

Happy with that. I'd have taken 1-1 before kickoff. Positives, the crowd back up for it, and the players responding. Jags with Kane in his pocket until the sub, Baines back on song, an actual goalie between the sticks, Gueye is a snip at that price - loving the blind passing, the motor on the fella and being in the right place at the right time - pure class and my MoM. Koeman demanding more from the players and getting it. One lapse of concentration in the defense cost us but no real complaints. Need to work on fitness coz most were gassed at 60/70 minutes.

Nice one Everton; good to have you back

Just got back from the game. I thought Everton had a really positive first half, some good football and semi-decent chances falling our way, all whilst limiting Spurs to little-to-nothing. The second half was almost the reverse, we offered much less as key players tired and we seemed to fall further and further back into our own half as the game progressed. On the whole however, in comparison to the Martinez era, I felt the aggression in the team and defensively thought we looked very sound considering Koeman has described us as '70%', despite conceding what felt like a 'soft' goal.

Deulofeu had an OK game playing out of position up front, perhaps if he could get some more power behind his shots or have some support up there he could thrive - I understand why Koeman has been sticking with this though, he's much better at Togger than Arouna Kone, who was abysmal upon being substituted on - even for his own standards.

Gana really impressed me, his tackling was superb throughout and his first touch/passing was sound enough from what I saw today. If he kicks on from here he could really prove to be an astute signing for the blues.

Overall 1-1 was probably a fair result. Onwards Evertonians.

Quite right. And therefore it's concerning that we can only keep that up for half the game. Several new players and a lot of hard work to do to get where we want to be.

fitness mega problem. brown shoes will make belgium oaps.

good start by sketlenburg and the gueye guy. still need some signings

top balcony no escalator a joke. should have stuck the 70 per centers on the job. money spent on signs, new bogs misspent but 100mil in pocket must be burning a hole

It was a good result, Spurs are a very good team. Baines was at fault for not closing down the cross, we had two defenders neither of whom attacked the ball, I wouldn't blame Holgate.........
