We really can't get a single deal done easily can we.
why wait till after deadline day to offer contract?! v suspicious!
Moyes is saying: 'If he stays, he gets his new deal'.
Basically saying if he stays past the deadline he will be offered a new contract imo, trying to get him to stayThis window is confusing. It is being widely reported that we have agreed a fee with Sunderland.
Why would Sunderland agree a fee with us but then offer him a new contract and say Koné was part of their plans?
Is it all just to save face with their own fans, to say he wanted to go and it was his choice?
Interestingly Moyes hasn't said that Koné won't be sold. Saying that, I always knew it would be a bloody nightmare doing business with Moyes.
Exactly! That's just Moyesey saying that Kone won't get a new offer on the table from them unless he stays.
In no way is this deal 'OFF'

I always got the impression that Kone wanted to stay.
Spot on. Club ensuring that when he leaves they were seen to have done everything in their power to keep him. He's only saying they'll offer him a new deal after the window shuts.
It's really a game of chicken between Sunderland and Kone. If he really wants out then he'll push for a move
I reckon this has come out after that video of him saying SAFC haven't offered him a new contract that was promised. In that one sentence, he was trying to shift ALL blame for any potential move onto the club, this is the clubs response to say to the fans and him, we reward loyalty, if he leaves it is his decision.
He's a fan favourite and I don't think he's going to come out and say 'I want to leave'.
I do think he'd happily stay but he wants his new deal first... Moyes saying September 1st means Kone is having to commit himself, and since he was supposedly promised a new deal at the end of last season, is he going to want to do that?
Or could be that he deffo wants to leave, and this is Sunderland calling his bluff by saying he will get a new contract, but knowing he really wants out, and him not withdrawing the transfer request, therefore Sunderland not getting grief off their fans.
erm mate, it's in response to the transfer request Kone handed in last night...
