What does he have against Bony? Surely we could have done a deal with City when we sold them Stones and Bony is better than the others we are being linked with and cheaper.
Better than who?

Swear down lad, you need to start linking.
I would prefer him to Slimani who apparently needs a lot of chances.Better than who?

Doesnt mention Bony by name in any of the quotes I can see?
Everton have been strongly linked with Bony this summer and the Ivory Coast man was offered as a makeweight in a deal for John Stones.
But the Blues turned down the chance to sign Bony in favour of a straight cash deal with City for Stones.
“That is one of the positions where we are looking,” Koeman told the ECHO.
“It is that position and that is one of the reasons why I put Deulofeu in front at No9 to see if he can occupy that position.”
No evidence of it thus far but there's still time. Not looking likely though. This is my point entirely.
Think we've been gullible to think we've got this "war chest"

Maybe I just like Bony. I thought he was fantastic at Swansea.
There's also no proof that Witsel agreed to anything but that's not the point.
The point is why would any Champs League level player come to a mid table level club? The obvious answer is financial incentive, a substantial wage premium the same premium that RK's agent demanded. Our seeming unwillingness to offer this to player targets is not condusive with having a £100m level budget.
The boy Islam has hunger.
That'll be fasting during Ramadan mate
He's 28 coming from a team in the champions league. I don't see why that makes him any more hungry than Bony. The boy Islam has hunger.
It would also set a very good precedent. Everton are back and willing to spend big to get into the champions league. So you would be OK with us overpaying fees AND wages to get these deals done no matter what it would take?
It would set a very bad precedent.
