He oversaw the greatest fall from grace in European club history. It took a corruption scandal to reduce Juventus to also ran status; it took the appointment of David Moyes to do the same to Man Utd.

You did mate. Villa lived the dream for a season. Unfortunately for them Lerner put O'Neill in charge of £100M+ and that wasn't a very smart move.

Bit irrelevant all that though isn't it. He was talking Moyes at Everton, 10 years ago.

Yes. The trend was one more season and they'd crash out of the PL with Moyes in 'command'.

In Man Utd history books they'll leave the pages for season 2013/14 blank with a black border to them.

Like there was literally no other manager in the world could have avoided relegation with a club which holds the distinction of playing more seasons in the top flight of their country than any other club in the world.

Wouldn't have been the first time they were relegated. I remember the last time it happened. Best, Charlton et al left the sinking ship like rats. It was interesting to watch.......
