Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

So why pay 12 million for a 32 year old then???????

Because we need a leader. We need depth.

Koeman likes to play three central defenders. With Williams, Kone, Jagielka, Mori and Holgate, we'd have that, and the ability to rotate. In Williams, we'd have a proven leader we've been crying out for. Kone, he's a character, the Sunderland fans loved him for it. We slightly relate to Besic for that reason, yet the difference is Kone, has proven it on the field, a real physical unit, which you could argue we've missed since Stubbs.

They're similar players, but likewise entirely different, and importantly add depth. Stones going only goes to show that Koeman wants to win now, with experience and youth, so everyone needs to chill out. We'll be okay.

Its a gamble its over the top the fee too I may be wrong, but if we were selling a classy Stones Williams really is he the answer no very fast on the deck is he might as well have got a younger stopper!

Sure I saw him play a couple of decent games at centre half? More than likely I'm talking hash though.

nah - he played his debut as a centre half and was taken off at half time he was that poor.

better in midfield as he just sits and holds, and was used as an auxiliary defender at times but not to much success.

but the key to bringing him in is his experience and leadership Joey.

Hopefully we'll be bringing in that younger defender you speak of as well.

The way i've seen it (well I hope i'm reading it right) he'll come in with vast premier league experience, which for most part, has been in one of the tightest defences in the league for the last 4-5 years. He'll be able to nurture Funes Mori (and with no disrespect to Stones or Jagielka) and help him and Holgate grow in the team. Importantly, he's a leader, he'll ensure we're organised, and we missed that so much over the last few seasons unfortunately. £12m may be a big sum, but the way the league is going £12m is more like £5m from 5 years ago. Shrewd business for me.
