The last 6 years have shown me names mean sod all, we signed them under Sven and were utter dog muck. City, Chelsea, United, Arsenal had loads of them and we made them look like idiots because all they did was chuck a load of names together.

Forget the marque signings mate, they feel great and you get that buzz from them signing. But they often come with ego, bags full of cash and little hunger. What matters is people fitting your system.

There was a decent article I saw from a Liverpool fan (boo hiss) the other day, which summed up as saying the way forward isn't buying the best players, it's about buying the best fit for your needs.

Steve Walsh wanted us to sign Troy Deeney, people around the country laughed. Most Leicester fans didn't though, because we could see him fitting our system perfectly in the 10 role. Right mentality, hungry to make up for past errors and style wise a perfect compliment to our team. Not the best player out there, but the right fit for us.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that, but it is a statement of the bleeding obvious. A successful team needs the right mix but it also needs some star quality and that costs money, the issue is bringing in the right ones and there was a time when we knew how to do it (and could attract), but sadly the RS turned it into an art form in the 70's and 80's. I really don't think any team in the modern era will replicate what Leicester achieved last season, it was a one off I fear, but I guess we will find out soon enough.

We've lost 4 out of our last 47 premier league game over two seasons, it baffles me that people can try and pick holes in what we did. :D

Think most football supporters stand back and look in awe at what you achieved given the position you were in with 9 or 10 games left of 2014/15 season. There's no denying your achievements rank among the greatest in team sports. Whether it can be maintained who knows, but you have it in the bag and no-one can take it away from you.

Is this the same chap that would have been trying to buy Troy Deeney for £25m or so? Not sure he fits the calibre we were after.. Feels a little lower on the ladder than Monchi
He has a less exotic name but not all talent is foreign. I don't know enough about these people and their role to comment. What I do know is that our new owner is not settling for mediocre, so let us see.

Mmmmmmm, what if his first move is to sell Stones and buy Huth, ooooh the opionaters will be down on him like a pack of wolves...
I would not. One work in progress who does not want to stay and one proven who had a great season. Of course Stones will be great we imagine, but I would fancy getting my 56 year old head to a cross before him at the moment..Not impressive in that area at all.

I remember Graham Carr, the scout at Newcastle getting a 10 year contract after he bought a few good players in. Just sayin'

I look at this team and I know factually that there isn't one player that started for a single euro team this year, not even John Mr Superstar Stones..Couldn't even start for a horrible England squad...and only one who played for a copa squad...and a just okay effort at that.

At least Steve Walsh will honestly assess the players that are here and more importantly, make a call regarding those who shouldn't be. And perhaps find a diamond in the rough every now and then. Today's game is ALL about MONEYBALL. Not superstars. Too much money worldwide guarantees that. Next year's champ is guaranteed to be a surprise, if not the year after. From here on out, LCFC stories will be the norm, not the exception. More importantly, The EPL is a young man's game and is not about fossils. Perhaps Steve will help out weeding the garden from the arrowheads that are the Everton norm these days.

But hey, I'm not expecting miracles. I'm just hoping for a team that will bust its butt to be competitive...like the first year Berto was here. When Lukaku was skinny, hungry and didnt take a month to figure out what to do with the rock. But having said that, there really isn't that much of a difference these days between the tops and the mid teams in terms of money, so as Don Maynard of the 1969 Jets said....if we play a bit better, we can have the winner's share...so why not ? Why not us ? Steve Walsh will answer that question. And I'm okay with that. Lets go.
