How can my own point be irrelevant in my discussion.
Right now i'm most concerned about getting a quality keeper in.
I'm not too worried about Mata and Witsel dragging on but I think we should be looking to get that first choice keeper in this week.
How many of those kids do you expect to make it. 1 maybe 2 at most. How many have made it from our academy in the last 20 years?I have seen a lot of this recently. If the kids are good enough why go and spend money on a player? Isn't that just spending for the sake of spending?
The 4 senior players we have lost, of the outfield players probably played less than 10 games last season and everyone wanted Howard gone. Howard has been replaced with a better option already. Of the 3 outfield players we have mentioned half a dozen young lads who should be able to cover their contribution and be an improvement on them.
That will leave us to targeting a higher quality of player. I think we are doing this as yet unsuccessfully. I am very relaxed about this and will judge on by the end of August. We will spend money.
Zatman, in a couple of his more hysterical posts.
I think the we want action and I expect this and that approach to football fandom is a nonsense.
That its nice to see actual events, and its great to get signings in early is without doubt but placing these timelines and demands on things as if the effect on our season is black and white is a bit ridiculous to me. But each to their own.
I don't know if you listened to me on 5 Live mate arguing this very point. They were very much of the impression Koeman was too big a name to consider coming to Everton and that we would end up with Moyes or possibly Howe.
You will know better than me the scale of profile Koeman has in European football, it is not insignificant.

We attracted a manager is a significant upgrade on Martinez.
Aye...I have to be honest @The Esk this is quite hyperbolic. No one puts Koeman on that pedestal of Mourinho, Löw, Emery, Blanc, even Pellegrini and de Boer (tho' the latter only with Bergkamp & Stam included) were on a higher pedestal from the pool of potential managers we were all talking about.
Sure Pellegrini apparently didn't impress in the job interview, but Koeman has a lot to prove still. His record is ok-to-good...not great. He does seem a step up from Martinez and possibly Moyes too, but he's not the "very high profile and quality" manager who's "way beyond" media expecation.
So perhaps reign in the hyperbolic optimism a bit and let's all quietly wait for action. Hopefully it'll come soon and we can discuss real tangible things again.
Yeah, no solid links anywhere really, though schmeichel seems to keep popping up in the media.I think the keeper is the one that there's no real sign of yet, tbh. It's why Stek was brought in though, IMO, as we've at least got two keepers for pre-season while the proper target is identified. That's just my thoughts on it.

I'm not aware of your 5-live but I enjoy your posts even if I don't always agree, can you link it up?

I know what you mean and it certainly did get headlines. But from a purely football point of view it was a disaster.I said 'perceived best'. He obviously wasn't, but it was the statement that mattered. Instantly, City meant business. And that's the point. Do Everton 'mean business' in the same way right now? Not at all.
They signed him the moment they arrived by the way - the last day of the transfer window, within hours. The fact they got Robinho done in itself was startling.
