Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Esk never once said anything about player trading, he alluded to how good we are at getting the best price for players we want to sell or who want out, as said who was the last player we actually HAD to sell?
The business plan as such will be focus on three areas (i) to progress us up the league of wage spenders (ii) bridge the current income gap through bringing players through the academy and (iii) develop the academy and our recruiting to generate future profits from player trading

Just so you know mate, if it's my opinion I say it's my opinion. If it's information received from any of a number of sources then I pass on what I can.

I have said consistently since last Saturday I have no definitive idea of the timing of Martinez' departure. Yesterday at the match I was told it was definitely end of season, then 5 minutes later it could be Monday.

I've got to the point where it is actually not worth asking, it will happen when it happens. The main piece of news is that we will be recruiting a very high profile and quality manager way beyond the expectations of what the media think we can attract, and that person will have very significant sums to deal in the summer months.

Forget this season, it's been a complete write off. Just look forward to a very different future at Everton.

Sorry for vaulting this up and I am certainly not having a pop at the esk but for me when someone who obviously has inside information made this kind of statement I was jumping for joy.
Getting Koeman in my opinion was definitely not very high profile and considering that the league starts in under a month and we haven't signed anyone of note it doesn't make me think that we are going to have a very different future.

Koeman and Moshri have this under control so stop the panick. We don't just want to buy anyone who is available and need the right players. Koeman is doing what any good manager would do at the moment which is assessing what he has and who is surplus to requirements . Then I expect movement and don't think our signings will even be some of the touted names ... Koeman didn't leave Southampton to be stuck with Kone , mcgeady and Niasse .. This is happening lads and we are moving forward. Just be patient !

Consider myself a Mata fan, but interesting stats

You know what I find funny? People saying nothing has changed because we've chased Mata and Witsel for a couple of weeks and nothing has happened except City have done the same with Stones and no one has batted an eyelid.

Man City have won the Prem a couple of times and regularly play Champs League.

I don't think that really address what I said. Our rivals disagree with what? They would feel that to have no signings by July 18th would be defenseless and inexcusable?

Who used the words "defenseless" and "inexcusable"?

Our rivals disagree that not signing anyone by 18 July is harmless. They've strengthened already because they appreciate the need for pre-prep time before the season kicks off. They may strengthen further still.

We've weakened, losing 4 senior players and replacing them with Southampton's 2nd-choice keep.

You can clearly see we're a bit behind right now?

What's that got to do with their equal inability to get a particular transfer over the line? They're spending as long on Stones as us with Witsel and no one on their forums are blowing up. Seems to be an Everyon-only head popping issue.

But that's all we have isn't it? Again unless you want the club to become like West Ham and spout off every couple of weeks on twitter
No of course not. I just don't think we need to sell Stones or indeed if we were serious about competing for the champions league places this year or next we would be selling him.

We have a full 12 months to bring in the commercial deals plus it's a pilot program and so far no penalties have been stated. If we really were serious then I think we would be looking to grow the squad and the team and then bring in the commercial deals which would be easier to get with a better team. It sounds a bit like an excuse.

Because Man City have nothing to prove. They can effectively sign who they want.

We have loads to prove, hence the spotlight is on us when all we can muster is 'making moves' rather than making actual bids.

Our rivals disagree. Rivals who have experience of what it takes to regularly qualify for Champs League and win trophies.

So we shouldn't buy any players in case they turn out crap?

We hired Martinez and paid considerable compensation too. That was 3 years ago. Only the compensation rates have gone up, but not by that much.

And 'moving on from the Kenwright era' means nothing without action. New sponsorship deals? New stadium confirmation? New players signed? At least an actual bid? Best players retained?

We wait for action. We watch our rivals take action. We wait for action.

Restlessness and concern are natural. Words have little power right now.

We've made moves. We're in talks. We're close. I recommend this thread:

You say you want to see action yet are completely ignoring the firing of Martinez, attracting Koeman from a team with European football, and Moshiri's commitment to increasing his shareholding. We've also got the redevelopment of the Goodison exterior, the termination of the WHP plan almost as soon as Moshiri arrived, and work taking place on Finch Farm. If reports are to be believed Moshiri has also sunk a large capital investment into repaying debts.

As of yet, Lukaku and Barkley have been retained as well as the core of our better players. People are more than happy to believe Esk when he says Stones is going but not on any incoming transfers.

To try and claim nothing has changed from the Kenwright era is ridiculous. There is no way Koeman is here if Moshiri had arrived, no way. Martinez would be carrying on for another season. There would be no way Lukaku would be here. He'd have created noise to lower his price and we'd probably have sold. There'd be constant speculation over Barkley Coleman Mirallas maybe Deulofeu. Instead nothing is coming out at all.

I am certain there will be the headline grabbing action you are craving over the coming months but even the changes that have occurred already show that we have progressed away from the previous regime already.
