its not though. Its July 18th. There could be signings tomorrow. Its silly applying this arbitrary cut off point.

If we leave it last minute then by all means complain. But saying that theres no excuse or no defence for not having signings by today, right now is bizarre.

Our rivals disagree. Rivals who have experience of what it takes to regularly qualify for Champs League and win trophies.

Half of the players they spent the money on were loaned out, sold etc. Markovic, Paulinho etc.

So we shouldn't buy any players in case they turn out crap?

The fact we fired Martinez with a considerable compensation cost, we hire Koeman with a considerable compensation cost, we're looking likely to hire Walsh from Leicester with a compensation fee to pay suggests we have moved on very quickly from the Kenwright era.

We hired Martinez and paid considerable compensation too. That was 3 years ago. Only the compensation rates have gone up, but not by that much.

And 'moving on from the Kenwright era' means nothing without action. New sponsorship deals? New stadium confirmation? New players signed? At least an actual bid? Best players retained?

We wait for action. We watch our rivals take action. We wait for action.

Restlessness and concern are natural. Words have little power right now.

We HAVE made moves for two very high profile players that would improve us, one of which was at an international tournament.

We've made moves. We're in talks. We're close. I recommend this thread:

In his first year?
The esk has said that there's a lot of money entering football and the plan is to make money using a stadium, academy and player trading. I don't see how that will improve our situation.

It sounds like the plan is for us to be another Southampton.

Where the hell have you been the last few years? We've had the luxury you're referring to for ages... when was the last time we had to sell a player?

In fact the first summer in recent times where we have to sell someone may be this one... to be able to increase the wage structure. But players leave all clubs sometimes, it can't be helped. It doesn't bother me, if Stones leaves we'll replace and move on no problem.
So people say.

Esk never once said anything about player trading, he alluded to how good we are at getting the best price for players we want to sell or who want out, as said who was the last player we actually HAD to sell?

No there isn't; there's speculation. Including rom, may I say, people proven to have been wrong, such as Esk.

We have no confirmation of a bid from a club or the player, and until we do or he signs on the dotted line, we have no proof we've bid for Witsel, or anyone else thus far beyond Stekelenburg and a few youth players.

Reliable Russian journalist talking about the Witsel offer -

With respect, the need for concern over inaction is both premature and a false premise. There is a huge amount of activity going on behind the scenes, the key being behind the scenes.

You know what I find funny? People saying nothing has changed because we've chased Mata and Witsel for a couple of weeks and nothing has happened except City have done the same with Stones and no one has batted an eyelid.

I disagree. It's a natural reaction from the fanbase. What's going on behind the scenes is irrelevant to most fans until that point where there is confirmed action.

We wait for action.
