The lack of activity up to this point is concerning. And I have been someone who has tried to take a positive outlook on everything since Moshiri's arrival. We may spring signings out of the blue, and get Witsel, but there is generally a 24-48 hour lead-up period where such activity gets widely reported in the media immediately prior to a signing and we don't seem close to any deal.
I am going to remain positive but we do need to start getting signings over the line this week. Traditionally there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity in the week leading up to the first game, which gives us a mere 3 weeks to get things sorted, and even though I want to deny it, nerves are twitching.
@Tubey - I agree with 22 July being the arbitary target, it's as good as any as an indicator of what will be the overall level of activity over the whole summer period, and the first game gets closer by the day.
I really wanted this summer to be the one where we got the bulk of our business done by the time the first pre-season game came around, with one or two other signings around deadline day/week, as the icing on the cake. The feel-good factor in full swing, Everton making waves as it were. I think most of us are both patient and realistic as regards the type of signings we can attract.
If someone could gaurantee me now that we would make 4-5 decent signings, but would have to wait until late August / deadline day, I would gladly take it, even though it would be far from ideal. It's the not knowing that get hard to deal with.
Ultimately Moshiri / Koeman / Ryazantsev / probably Steve Walsh / a GP facelift etc - it doesn't add up to a bad few months work but signings absolutely must crystallise.
