But how do you know we haven't or at least aren't trying? You don't wish to take the word of certain people that's fine, but things could be happening just as much as they couldn't

Could be, but that's not the point. We've "tried" to get deals over the line under Kenwright, such as Yarmolenko. Great, well done, but this was supposed to be a new era where investment would see us compete at the top end of the table.

Until we see players sign, that simply hasn't happened and isn't happening.

Proof will be indeed in the pudding, and we haven't done it yet. And that means people can and should have legitimate cause for alarm about Moshiri and Everton generally until it does happen, if it ever does.

No mate - I want us to sign players by bidding money and getting business done. Obviously, due to the lack of signings, that hasn't happened yet, and that's my problem.

I think youre right to show some concern. I'm reminded that when Arsenal were planning and building a new stadium, and despite the denials, there was on embargo at Arsenal, almost, on buying 'expensive' players. They went for years needing a goalkeeper(!) and 'missed' other signing opportunities when it could easily be argued that a couple of signings would have won them the league. I hope we are not paying for our new stadium by starving the playing side of new blood. That is , following the Arsenal method.
Now ...is there anyone at Everton who was associated with Arsenal.......... ..... ..

I am honestly not worried that we havent signed anyone yet. Would I have liked to? Yes. Do I think that there are deals on the table? Yes. Do I think Everton would of attracted someone of the ilk of Koeman if there wasn't money to spend? No. Koeman isn't here just to pick up a fat paycheque. He wants to manage Barcelona and in order to get that job he has to perform here. There is no way he would have taken this job if he didn't think the tools were here to allow him to be successful i.e a boatload of cash to go out and buy players that he thinks will improve us.
Players will join and there will be players of a higher level than what we already have. Moshiri will know that the easiest way to increase the revenue streams for the club is to be visible and successful and in order to get us to that point he is going to have to throw a wedge at us. Once we sign one high profile player it is much easier to get the rest to follow suit. Players are like lemmings, they need someone to follow and once we have one in I imagine others will follow much more quickly. Fully expect Mata to play the first half of the rooneys testimonial for utd, sign his contract at half time and come out in royal blue second half and promptly score a worldie. Its too early to say we are back yet but I know we will be stronger this season than last and genuinely expect to be competing for a champions league place and at least finish the seaon in a European slot.

I like your post and I agree but I don't understand one comment you made - How do you know he wants to manage Barcelona ? Everton will be fine and I can't wait to see what happens :-)

When the Arabs came to Man City, they were a nothing club. They immediately signed one of the perceived best players in the world in Robinho within hours, gazumping Chelsea in the process.

We, on the other hand, have done nothing. Which is increasingly suggesting the investment from Moshiri is generally not going to get the job done. Arguably, he's arrived at the wrong time.

The story goes - he thought it was United! HA! Didn't event know about City.

No there isn't; there's speculation. Including rom, may I say, people proven to have been wrong, such as Esk.

We have no confirmation of a bid from a club or the player, and until we do or he signs on the dotted line, we have no proof we've bid for Witsel, or anyone else thus far beyond Stekelenburg and a few youth players.

I wasn't on about Esk - who has actually just been passing on the information he had at present and the rest of his posts have been his opinions that people have decided to take as Gospel then crucify him when it turned out not to happen... (even though he always stressed it was his opinion).

The Belgian journalist Terreur is always solid on his information with Belgian players and he has stated many times that Zenit and Everton have agreed a large fee and that a deal has been close between the club and player - though stuff can change.

That shows we have been making moves for players. Yes, we'd all like it to be done quickly, but this idea that we're the only club that drags out their business is mental. West Ham have been chasing Tore since January, for example, yet only signed him last week.

But that is once again a massive indictment of Moshiri's Everton - and once again symptomatic of the impression that we simply can't get anything done at the moment.

Perhaps I'm wrong, and we'll see a flurry of activity and go into August with our muscles well and truly flexed, but we're leaving it perilously late to do so. In a standard transfer window, I'd accept dealings being done as late as early August - but not this one. This really had to be a 'statement of intent' transfer window, and that meant the new owner coming in and stamping down with a Robinho-esque blockbuster signing quick with little fuss.

Do gte your point mate, and obviously Robinho was signed immediately upon the new people taking over, but lets not forget he was actually signed on deadline day at the last gasp, and there was until january after that before they did anything else

The new season is still a month away though Tubey, it's not like it's next week.

I agree that this week needs to show progression, preferably in the form of a deal or two being agreed and finished. If that doesn't happen then I'll start to get a bit anxious, but for now it's fine.

Everyone will have different cut off points. For me, it's going to be 22nd July; the third week of July starting. Might seem arbitrary, but my success criteria for this window was to have two or three done early that were very significant transfers, followed by the momentum taking us to deadline day if necessary to bring in two or three more. To be at zero at this point of the window is, for me, alarming, as my personal view is we'll need two or three in withing the next five days or so to be on track with what I hoped for Everton this window.

I've seen no real suggestion we're "haggling" over wages

Most reports seem to suggest we're comfortably outbidding all the other teams

The fact we're not in Europe and haven't won anything in so long is going to make us less attractive to players

Chelsea were already a Top 4 side whem Abramovich bought them and City at least had the swish new stadium

Until we get the first big signing over the line, which we still have time to do, then it's not going to be a cake walk to sign whoever we want

If we can get Mata or Witsel in, that'll change perceptions

But Number_25 may be right and that we have to do something this season first before we start getting who we want
We aren't going to do anything this season with the squad we have. Our first team is around 9th, our squad is woeful.

On the last day of the transfer window

Because they only arrived literally that day. If they'd arrived in July, they'd have went to town on the transfer market, as seen in subsequent windows since they arrived.

Whereas Moshiri has done nothing so far. Again, that doesn't mean I'm saying he won't do anything, but he's proven nothing at this point.

Why also have we apparently been held up by two targets, Witsel and Mata.

We needed at least 4 or 5 starters. Surely they could have got one over the line by now.
