Everton Transfer Thread 2016

When has there ever been proof in any window?

You don't know it's happened until it's happened

But sources connected both to the club and elsewhere seem to suggest that we've offered him big money and he, for whatever reason, hasn't taken it yet

If that's the case, then I don't know what more the club could do

Exactly - and nothing has happened. That's the point.

As said, there might be a flurry of activity very soon, but right now we haven't made a statement of intent, and that's my concern. I expected us to have two or three notable signings wrapped up now and Everton going into the new season looking to make a mark on the league. That simply hasn't happened as of now, so it is right to have a concern over whether it ever actually will.

That didn't matter. It was the statement that they could blow that kind of money in the first place and there was plenty more were that came from.
Where is the proof to suggest we aren't trying to do the same?, unfortunately clubs are on a much more level playing field now than they where when city where taken over, so players only hand a handful of options with regard to clubs offering the mega money

But that is once again a massive indictment of Moshiri's Everton - and once again symptomatic of the impression that we simply can't get anything done at the moment.

Perhaps I'm wrong, and we'll see a flurry of activity and go into August with our muscles well and truly flexed, but we're leaving it perilously late to do so. In a standard transfer window, I'd accept dealings being done as late as early August - but not this one. This really had to be a 'statement of intent' transfer window, and that meant the new owner coming in and stamping down with a Robinho-esque blockbuster signing quick with little fuss.

Spot on with this. Had the same convo with a United supporting mate.

Basically agreeing we need that "name" to start the ball rolling and make players/teams turn heads.

It's mad, people say there is no proof but yet then say how happy they are that the club conducts things without any information leaking, can't win

And that'd be fine, if business was actually conducted.

We have done nothing so far. That is indisputable. Keep things quiet by all means, the quieter the better in fact, but you have to have actual signings to show for it, otherwise you've done nothing.

Ive never played FIFA and when i have time i play FM with fake players starting in the lowest league.

Who would you like as a GK?

For me, Leno or Rico..
I just want a goalie who wears short sleeved shirts when it's sunny and trackie bottoms when it's cold.
That's all. Not much to ask surely ?

It's been widely reported by very reliable sources that we have agreed a deal for Witsel with Zenit. So yes, there's proof.

No there isn't; there's speculation. Including rom, may I say, people proven to have been wrong, such as Esk.

We have no confirmation of a bid from a club or the player, and until we do or he signs on the dotted line, we have no proof we've bid for Witsel, or anyone else thus far beyond Stekelenburg and a few youth players.

Rubbish. We won't progress without better players. The ones we have are either leaving or getting older. It's about money. Haggling over Mata's fee or Bony's wages, resigning Gibson and taking a GK on loan doesn't look like a team with money to spend.

I've seen no real suggestion we're "haggling" over wages

Most reports seem to suggest we're comfortably outbidding all the other teams

The fact we're not in Europe and haven't won anything in so long is going to make us less attractive to players

Chelsea were already a Top 4 side whem Abramovich bought them and City at least had the swish new stadium

Until we get the first big signing over the line, which we still have time to do, then it's not going to be a cake walk to sign whoever we want

If we can get Mata or Witsel in, that'll change perceptions

But Number_25 may be right and that we have to do something this season first before we start getting who we want

But how do you know we haven't or at least aren't trying? You don't wish to take the word of certain people that's fine, but things could be happening just as much as they couldn't

The new season is still a month away though Tubey, it's not like it's next week.

I agree that this week needs to show progression, preferably in the form of a deal or two being agreed and finished. If that doesn't happen then I'll start to get a bit anxious, but for now it's fine.

That's what we needed if all the talk of competing for the champions league places and trophies wasn't just talk. To have moved up the league even to compete with the likes of Spurs and Liverpool needed a huge statement of 2 or 3 Mata size signings by this point and another 2 or 3 by the end of the window. Going into this window we were expecting 5 or so top signings. Do people really expect us to do them all in the last few weeks after the season starts.

Where is the proof of any of it?
