Tbh I'd take Begovic over Robles any day, and he'd easily be just below the top-tier goalkeepers in the league (De Gea, Cech, Courtois). I'm sure he'd be available for a bargain price, too. Although that said, you don't want to be scimping on a goalkeeper. If we can get better we have to go for it.

Wasn't he in the side when Chelsea as a whole were in complete disarray though? You don't become a crap keeper overnight, at least not at his age. I'm sure he'd be great for us

I think getting Stekelenberg will let us send out Joel on a long term loan so we can really get a grip on whether he's going to be good enough or not. Like Chelsea did with Courtois.

I know statistics can pretty much be manipulated or presented in a way to tell you whatever you want - but would have thought that Goalkeeper statistics would be the worst to give any real credence to as they can be impacted so much by having a poor or ineffective defence in front of them.

Just a statistics type observation as I know nothing of any real substance about Begovic and if he would be an improvement or not.

He was also the second worst keeper the year before(behind Howard) soooo he didn't become crap overnight.
