Just don't get throwing surely 50k plus a week down the drain on rubbish that won't ever play, i.e. Gibson, Stecklenberg. Two and a half million a year for nothing.

Who would buy Gibson? He barely plays 15 games a season and how much would they pay as were no doubt paying approx £30k a week or £120k a month.

But would Mandanda be happy being second/third choice? Everyone seems to be going on about him like is one the best goalkeepers around yet he has just signed for Palace.

Clearly we think that we can get better as our N1. But Koeman also wants a new n2/n3, he might even find he doesn't rate Robles in training and ships him out.

If you scroll back through the thread a few days alot of us were saying mandanda was erratic and grobelaar-esque.

I used to think Steklenberg was a good keeper, as backup for that price no complaints.

In fairness to the meltdowners, seeing how many of the other teams are already on a spending spree, and we are getting linked to some average footballers, is hardly instilling confidence at the minute.

Patience is required indeed. But sometime soon it will be time for those at Everton to walk the talk.

Ain't no way Gibson will go for a fee. Or if he does it'll be a nominal one in January, when we've already paid him 1.5m in wages for doing absolutely nothing! Disgraceful to throw a new contract at him.

I'll balance out my anger though by being delighted to see the back of Pienaar/Osman/Hibbert, as I were somehow expecting at least one of those clowns to get a new deal.

I'd argue that some of the spending sprees have been on average players. The time isn't here yet at any rate

It's called being pragmatic with your assets mate; seems clear as day to me that's what a sane club would do regarding Gibson.

Not only is Martinez gone but so is more or less the entire upper management that brought him and kept him. The new regime get some time of their own
