Mata is emerging on 'Football Whispers' that new weird site that sky are using which groups likelihood of rumours happening

What position does he play though, i just don't think he has anything like nailed down a proper position. he seems to be a bit of a utility man, ok at some master at nothing.

Phil Neville MK2. Obviously a better player but you get the drift.

All successful teams have these sort if fringe players though who can fill in anywhere and you can count on them in big games. Like Ferguson with park Ji sung.

Horrified by Mata on the left shouts, would be a crime against football, if it happened at all.

This is what is confusing me about it a bit. I'd be surprised (and sad) if he was bought to take the central or right sided spots from Ross or Del respectively.

Mata did play on the left much earlier in his career but has I think come out and said recently that he wants to play centrally. I don't get it. Cracking player but no idea what the plan would be.

I think he'd be played on the right, and would be a massive upgrade on Deulofeu.

Will reply to this here as it's more general transfer discussion

Griffiths has a better record than Larrson? Sign him up Ronald!!

Outside of Hearts and Aberdeen, the lads been playing Tomato Cans this season (I enjoy Fitba, but the fact remains that outside of those two teams, Celtic are miles ahead of the chasing pack)

Let's see how he does this upcoming season with Rangers coming back, and the other sides potentially strengthening

If he keeps slotting them, then he might make a case to come back to England, and even then I think he'd have to start in The Championship first

He could very easily do a Vardy though and become a late in life Premiership Star

If that happens though, I sincerely doubt it would be for us

Koeman worked wonders with Long though, so you never know, but I can't see it and wouldn't seriously canvas for it either (Unless it was with the intention of winding up @ijjysmith )

Who mate? Kone? That is all we had, and naismith. Both had runs up front pretty much as well alongside rom and neither scored more than a couple of goals.

I would disagree that goals would have been replaced also, how many games did we score because of lukaku rather than in spite of him? how many times his strengths on the pitch led him to score rather than a simple tap in from 5 yards?

Think you give kone more credit than he deserves mate. Kone would never have scored nearly as many for us, and we probably would have lost a few more games as a result of it.
i think an evertonless lukaku would mean finding a way to score without having to rely so much on 1 player meaning that the players are under less pressure to give the ball to the "main man" and maybe have more freedom to express themselves and have shots at goal

someone like mirallas may have flourished in such a situation and other players may have stepped up their games and furthered their goal tally's in midfield.
