What are these cicadas that seem to have taken a dislike to your goodself ? Some kind of grasshopper ?High of 93 (33.9?) today. Tried to spray the cicadas off the trees so we can sit out today but that just resulted in a swarm of them attacking us. Back to the drawing board. Not wasting this nice weather indoors.

Hi pilot how are you todayhttp://www.princeton.edu/~angarone/cicada/
They're nasty pests that come up every 11-17 years. They are covering my pear trees which are right by the deck. They make really loud sounds that can be high pitch enough to cause hearing damage, though we don't have that many. I seem to be one of the few people with such an issue in my area this year. I had my boyfriend blast the trees with a pressure washer and that did nothing to them.
Are they one of those insects that hibernation ?http://www.princeton.edu/~angarone/cicada/

I am good today xxHey Carlos, I am well. How are you doing?
Yeah. They deposit eggs into trees and then fall and burrow underground for awhile. The adults die quickly (I hope) after the process, which should last another week for us if I read that correctly. Are they one of those insects that hibernation ?
Apologies for the 'hibernation', beer writing. Sounds like an X Files episode.Yeah. They deposit eggs into trees and then fall and burrow underground for awhile. The adults die quickly (I hope) after the process, which should last another week for us if I read that correctly.

I figure most typos are either beer-induced or autocorrect. It is a bit freakish like the X Files, but they are otherwise harmless to humans and plants. Although if I suddenly stop posting, it is because we were consumed by alien cicadas.Apologies for the 'hibernation', beer writing. Sounds like an X Files episode.![]()
