If this additional person changes the game to the extent that only city can outspend us (potentially), then I'd imagine that this would need to be someone like Len Blavatnik - obviously just a guess, but he's liked to BP through TNK, which seems consistent with the circles that FM appears to move in.

Also, he's proper rich.

Funnily enough, I was wondering about Russian connections when I read about Gilvary and his involvement in TNK-BP and then Rosneft. I was searching for Usmanov but couldn't see any connection.
