Lerner put enough money into Villa to do some serious damage at the top end. His problem was that he didn't know football, and in the end just lost interest.I am worried that we are getting carried away with our new commander in chief. He is only worth 1.3billion which makes him closer to Randy Lerner than Roman Abramovich. His wealth is average compared to most owners of most premier league clubs. To be offering 7m a year to Koeman is, in my mind, indicative of the tv deal and not his wealth. Is anyone not a bit concerned that we seem to be putting all our financial eggs in one basket. By that i mean we have a plan of what we want to do and if it doesnt bring us success then that is that. Clubs like City and Chelsea can blow untold millions , make mistakes, and start again. I dont think we are rich enough to do that. I dont think the reason we can pay koeman 7m and southampton cant is not because we have a sugar daddy. Its more because we are prepared to gamble with all our excess tv money and they are not. If the gamble pays off we are laughing but if it doesnt then it may be a fun few years but we could sink like a stone afterwards like villa
I hope i am wrong, maybe The Esk can fill us in on why he is so confident that the future is so solid long term and not short term
Apparently moshiri has put nearly 25million into paying Martinez off paying Southampton off and koemans wages any truth in it people ?
I thought that I'd reckon paying Martinez off and Southampton off with cost 8 million tbhDoesn't sound quite right no.
YAWNBill Kenwright should wince. He was never rich enough to be chairman or own the shares he did in Everton football club.
Now we have a forward looking owner. With resources to match.

you being sarcastic moutsgoat ?Hmmm, depends how much we had to pay Martinez, but a 4 year contract at 7m a year is 28m on its own.

Sorry mate been a bad weekNot at all mate.
Was just saying.
I saw that 25m figure, but I have no idea how they arrive at that, maybe the 7m wages figure was inflated by the press, again no idea, im sure it will all come out in the wash.

I think what happens is we continue to pay his wages until he is offered employment, at which point a settlement is negotiated.
The Southampton job will be free soon.Just another reason to hope he finds a job ASAP.
