The surprise at Koeman being lured to Everton does illustrate how far our standing has fallen.

The process of decline at Everton has been almost 3 decades in the making and certainly won't be reversed overnight.

It bodes well that Moshiri identified Koeman as his first choice and got him.

We seem to have had to do a hard sell of the club and its future to persuade Koeman which is exactly as it should be. The old cosy relationship between club and manager was and is a recipe for stagnation.

I particularly hope that Moshiri can deliver the new stadium that we desperately need. Goodison in the state it's in has become a metaphor for our hand to mouth existence since the 90's. As much as we are fond of it, it's ramshackle for the modern era and makes us look very much the poor relation relative to our peers.

I would love to see the waterfront concept come to fruition. It is a fantastic opportunity for Everton to create a home that would be cutting-edge in terms of architecture and design whilst being culturally iconic with a potential impact far beyond our footballing horizons.

I love the "I want that, so will take it" attitude that we seem to be seeing from Mr Moshiri. Keep it up lad.

Very reminiscent of a certain Sir John Moore's attitude that, wonderfully to see that touch of arrogance that has been missing for so long. To be honest we will still lose players we don't want to lose, it's the way of football. But now we won't be out bidder by the likes of West ham, Spurs and Newcastle, who always seemed to target our signings in the past.

I am worried that we are getting carried away with our new commander in chief. He is only worth 1.3billion which makes him closer to Randy Lerner than Roman Abramovich. His wealth is average compared to most owners of most premier league clubs. To be offering 7m a year to Koeman is, in my mind, indicative of the tv deal and not his wealth. Is anyone not a bit concerned that we seem to be putting all our financial eggs in one basket. By that i mean we have a plan of what we want to do and if it doesnt bring us success then that is that. Clubs like City and Chelsea can blow untold millions , make mistakes, and start again. I dont think we are rich enough to do that. I dont think the reason we can pay koeman 7m and southampton cant is not because we have a sugar daddy. Its more because we are prepared to gamble with all our excess tv money and they are not. If the gamble pays off we are laughing but if it doesnt then it may be a fun few years but we could sink like a stone afterwards like villa

I hope i am wrong, maybe The Esk can fill us in on why he is so confident that the future is so solid long term and not short term

Wealthy businessman with very wealthy connections.

It's also a different sort of wealth mate. Much more secure and substantial than, say, Tony Xia, who is reportedly four times as wealthy but, strangely, struggling for proof of funding for £50m.

city didn't get the rich owner they have now straight away. They quickly developed into a worthy investment for the wealthiest, nothing to say we can't be just that in about 5 years time. It's silly to compare us to them two anyway ... then again they both finished below leicester last season.

With the right transfer policy we can easily be in the champions league as early as next season. will just wait and see, look for the positives before the negatives ;)

I agree with a lot of what you say. Martinez has left the club in a mess, disgruntled players, disgruntled fans and an even lower profile in the media. I don't think champions league is realistic next year, but koeman needs time to build, bring in the players he wants and mould the team the way he sees it. A team challenging for Europe top 7 and a cup win would be a more than respectable first season. Moshiri has a plan, you spoke of a timescale of 5 years and that's realistic. What I'd like to think we'd have by that time, is a new stadium, taking back ownership of our commercial operation and ownership of finch farm and developing the academy and training facilities. Once we have all this, we will have increased revenue streams and the infrastructure to be challenging for champions league places and ultimately the title again.

We've got a Fraud called Moshiri,
A fraud who lives in Tesco,
He's got less money than John Henry,
Together we're gonna get relegated.
And when we lose to the sh*te,
We'll regret this song all night,
Moshiri is the man who saw the opportunity to lie to the footballing world and fleece a club of all its riches and assets the parasite .
Nice song mate.

I would say a very wealthy professional with very very wealthy business connections. Moshiri after all is an accountant by profession, studying and working in London, and came to Usmanov's attention because of his business intellectual and brainbox abilities to advise on shareholdings, company structure, acquisitions etc. Moshiri's wealth as it is, stems primarily from a gift from Usmanov who gave him a 10% shareholding in his biggest company as a thank you for his esteemed services of consultancy and advice. Moshiri's subsequent business career in representing Usmanov's interests on various company boards has that foundation.
