Frank Field did an excellent job of putting the Socialist case for Brexit on QT last night.
Reminisced about the days he and Corbyn were united about being anti-EU when trying to protect workers rights.
People may mock and hide their views behind statements like 'it was a joke'. But it really isn't funny.
Did you cycle there?I'm in Slovenia now. A stunning country full of friendly (mostly) English speakers.
Was stood on the border with Austria and Italy yesterday and strangely could barely tell the difference.
I'm sure silly nationalism has its place though.
Referring to me, no doubt. Once again I'm compelled to spell it out for the benefit of everyone.
So, you decide on behalf of minorities, what's offensive and what isn't? Tell you what, come with me to visit the people I know who are from minority backgrounds. Tell them to lose their senses of humour & self-deprecation and insist on finding anything I say as offensive. Tell them they should regard me as a fascist bigot.
You'd rightly get laughed at, or possibly even chinned!
You don't know people on here you're just a faceless poster.
'State of this, suggest you go and give your head a shake'.And as for this bit, I don't really know where to start. Married to a an EU Muslim. Living together in this country together for the last 12 years. Seen it and heard it all, and it has got worse since the rise of UKIP. It's no coincidence.
I'll defend the right of my wife and children to live in a country free of intolerance. And I have no issue with standing up for their right to be respected.
My wife has given a huge amount to this country. She's an exceptionally intelligent woman and since she moved here has given her skills and abilities to working in the 3rd sector. She has mastered the language and is currently sitting her finals for an English degree. She also tutors secondary school kids French (charging them depending on her mood).
In return she has endured the usual derogatory comments from people who only hear the french accent or who have found out from friends of friends of acquaintances that she's Muslim. Its obviously not everyone. Not even close. But as stated earlier one instance is too many. Is she sensitive? Yep. Is that relevant? Not at all. The ignorant actions of others hurts.
People may mock and hide their views behind statements like 'it was a joke'. But it really isn't funny. It makes people feel self conscious, unwelcome, 2nd class.
Big guys the lot of them who do it with the arrogance to not actually give a shiny one. The actions of some on here is no different. Ignorant bigots who haven't got a clue about the lives of others. Can't see past, race, language, religion. Letting their prejudices take over.
Great site lads.
You really don't have a clue. There's a big difference between not so bright and plain ignorant. People don't take offence because they can. When someone uses offensive language against you, you either suffer it in silence or you speak out. If you suffer in silence, it isn't accepting the abuse, or giving the abuser the permission to continue. That's right - and you don't know me...Nor does daylight. And strangely, you're both faceless posters too!?
So you'll take everything I write a face value and use it to back up a frivolous argument because I used a joking term that you & him take offence to - because you CAN.
Just like I CAN call muslims 'mooslims'...Exactly like how the (Not so bright...Or you gonna take offence to that, too?) Americans say 'mooslims' - but you wouldn't see the irony in that, you'd misinterpret that as further evidence of some perceived bigotry.
Get a life ffs.

settle down guys thread bans to be issued if not.
'Against you'. Note the word 'you'.
You don't get to take offence on behalf of any German, unless you are German yourself.
E.G. One of our American posters (in another thread) made a suggestion the British are portrayed as paedophiles. Did I take offence? Did they take offence to me slating their sense of self-importance and lack of geographical knowledge?
We used our common sense. You've seen me campaign on here on behalf of the poor & the disabled - do you think I do that exclusively on behalf of the white british poor & disabled or something?
Probably.
I think that'd be the best option tbh. I've wanted to post on topic but have been compelled to explain meself at every turn. I've a strong feeling it'll continue in the same vein - not that I want it to, like.
Is it possible I could be banned from posting on the thread, but allowed to carry on viewing it?
