Stadium naming rights - a few thoughts...

Man City apparently contemplated calling a stand behind the goal 'The Bell end'
Would be just like Everton to call our new stadium 'The Ball arena'

Naming a stadium is one way to increase income. But the increase in television licensing fees is vastly more than the value of naming rights, and has reduced the the need to seek further income.

However, naming rights can contribute to the cost of a new stadium, and it's likely that Everton would explore possibilities for this. The value of the name lies in the mentions it receives in the national and international media. The actual location of the stadium has little effect on this.

If naming rights just bring in a few million a year then I don't believe it's worth it. Drop in the ocean of the other money coming in.

Has to be the ' Merseyside Arena '

A quaint idea, but who'll provide any revenue for that ?

It stands to reason, pure common sense, that the club should/will endeavour to secure a lucrative, long-term naming rights/shirt sponsorship deal hopefully with an instantly recognisable, global brand.

You would want a big company, tie it in with a better shirt sponsorship deal. Seem to be left behind here with Chang.

Is Samsung still with Chelsea?, IBM, Ford
