Kevin Mirallas

I agree, even when he played two winger a few weeks ago, Lennon was always behind Lukaku leaving Deulofeu on the wing. He could easily have had Lennon or Miralles do what Cleverley and Kone do though.

If I remember correctly, we started a few games recently with Lennon on the left, and another winger on the right. Didn't really work. The 4231 that we've generally played for about 5/8 years now is outdated anyway.

Whoopee Doo.....if the best you can point to for evidence of Kev being a "team player" is a decent performance in an end of season game against a relegated side then the Mirallas delusion goes even deeper than many of us suspected :Blink:

He "tracked back several times"......:dance:

Ditto if using The Clev as a yardstick to compare him with.

He played well against Norwich and he is better than Cleverly......WhoooHooo....:dance:

Has the manager of Belgium been informed of this breaking news?

Jesus Christ, he's hardly played this season because our former manager decided The Clev and Kone were better options in his position, is it any wonder he's been disillusioned? I see you're one of these old school breeds of fan that thinks players can only either be skilful or hard working, and never able to combine both

Loved watching him work his nuts off against Norwich. Nothing game or not, proves he's got it in him when properly motivated, and it looks like a change of manager and positive atmosphere around the ground will be just the thing to set him flying next season. Seems excited about it based on his instragram post anyway.

It's Premier League games only. I referenced Whoscored.com to get the assist\goal stats.
And to what extent do your stats change if you include the FA Cup and League Cup games? Why leave them out?

That's another two goals and an assist for the Belgian, and another 340 minutes of game time.

For Del it's an extra 450 minutes, 2 more goals and 4 more assists.

Lennon: 517 extra minutes for one more goal and one more assist.

Barkley: 828 extra minutes, four more goals, three more assists.

The game against Norwich proves nothing, an end of season meaningless fixture. The change of manager and the introduction of Kenny, Pennington, Davies and Dowell made it a unique day out for Evertonians, nothing else.

It really depends on who is appointed manager and the type of player he wants.
All I am saying is that imo if we get our first choice manager that Kevin Mirallas may struggle.

Roberto?

Because Premier League games are the hardest and most important games, so you get the best reflection of a players ability as they're playing higher class opposition.

There's no agenda in the stats I used other than to show their stats in the most important and hardest competition we play in.

So, without going into great details of minutes played etc.

Kev's stats 2015/16 - Goals (6 total):

Premier League

1. Leicester (home - sub)
2. Chelsea (away - starter)
3. Leicester (away - sub)
4. Norwich (home - starter)

League Cup
1. Barnsley (away - starter)

FA Cup

1. Dagenham (home - starter)

Assist (3 total):

Premier League
1. Aston Villa (away - starter)
2. Aston Villa (away - starter)

League Cup

1. Norwich (home - starter)

FA Cup
0

So, Kev's worst season for us in terms of assists/goals, though his game time was limited.

IMO, it's a combination of him not suiting how RM wanted to play (obviously, that was the wrong way) and also not always making the most of opportunities to cement his place - e.g. with silly red cards.

Also, struggled with niggling injuries.

Hopefully, the new manager, whoever he is - will be able to get the best out of him again after a solid pre-season.

Goals win games and Kev has goals in him. Clev and Kone do not , therefore logic dictates that you'll win more games with Mirallas playing than not.
Quite right mate. It's really that simple. Yet this thread is brimming with people who insist otherwise.

Until we bring in a new face, Mirallas is the best option for the left wing in a 433, or a 4231. Other choices would be Kone, Cleverley, McGeady and Oumar "Stella" Niasse... hardly competition.

He can also play as one of the front pair in a 442. Assuming Rom is nailed on to start, the alternatives to Kev as the second striker are Niasse, Kone and several untested youth players.

On a final note:

4 goals and 2 assists in 1004 prem minutes for Kev;
5 goals and 3 assists in 1457 prem minutes for Kone;
5 goals and 1 assist in 1539 prem minutes for Lennon;
2 goals and 9 assists in 1384 prem minutes for Del;
2 goals and 5 assists in 1614 prem minutes for Cleverley;

For comparison: 8 goals and 8 assists in 3038 prem minutes for Ross.

There's a lot of players who got game time ahead of Mirallas this year, but the stats show that only Deulofeu did anything useful with that extra time. With Del and Lennon both seeming to be out and out right wingers, it was Kone and Cleverley being picked ahead of Mirallas and not justifying that selection IMHO.
