It is all quite exciting at the moment with all the names and connetations in the mix, the anti climax may come with the naming of the new manager as I'm sure as with Martinez the appointment will not please everyone.

Being a glass half full person I really hope we can pull off a big signing with this one and please the majority.

We need to show ambition and we need cheering up after this season's finish.

Remember the carnage that was the New Manager thread when we knew Moyes was going. So many fallen soldiers in that thread. So many fake itks. Stubbs' Aunty telling one of them he said he was getting the job. @MickM86 at his finest.

Strap yourselves in folks, it's gonna be a ride

Went to school with Stubbs' nephew and am good mates with him/his family, they were all convinced he was getting it

Thank God he never.

I am proper loving this.

It is a throwback to the 70s when any time the Everton job came up all the big names du jour were speculated on in the press.

Bobby Robson, Ron Saunders, Brian Clough, Don Revie were all touted as possible successors to Harry and then again a few years later when Billy Bingham was fired.

I am not sure what Billy's credentials were when he got the job but Gordon Lee was highly regarded when his name was touted in the press.

And this feels so very different from three years ago.

Back then I felt like I did as a young man when a bird I really fancied had dumped me (not that I was dumped very often, like ).....this time we have done the dumping and it sure feels a lot better.

More empowering......and high end names in the frame led to a belated feel good factor at the Park today.

This time last week I was just wanting the season over.

Now I wish it was just starting ;)

According to his own book he was all but manager until he saw the news in the paper the next morning after he'd asked for 24 hours to tell Ipswich.

Apparently Barry Horne was telling people yesterday that BK wanted to give Martinez another 6 months, but was over-ruled by Moshiri. No speculation as to who is in the frame. What is Horne's role at the club these days? Is he a lounge host? Radio commentator? Thought he'd gone back to teaching somewhere in the Wirral.
