If I were a suspicious kind, I'd think that the figure of 8.2m is low - probably haven't bothered adding in additional costs to the catering calculation like proportion of rates, repairs and renewals, insurance and other things which are now absorbed in other operating costs.
This would have the effect of increasing the "perceived additional turnover" and reduce the net profit %.

Those costs wouldn't affect turnover/revenue though? That would affect the profit figures.

Rumours about a director of football - while it looks like we're in for a very good summer, and as happy as I am with the calibre of manager we seem to be aiming for, a director of football never seems to work well in the Premier League?

They would mate - if say 2mil of things now classed as operating costs were to be allocated against catering/shirts profit centres, then to achieve 4.1m the increase in turnover would have to be not 8.2 mil but 10.2mil. Net profit percentage would be 4.1/(4.1+10.2) = 28.67% instead of 33.33%.
Obviously I'm using round figures and the above may not be the case, but the principle stands.

I am not at all sure what a Director of Football actually does

In fact, I haven't a clue.

If you want to change the culture of a place, it's the way to go I think.

It's just too much to ask of one person, unless things are already in good order.

I still don't see why you're saying that any expenses from those cost/profit centers would influence the turnover/revenue figures.

The turnover reflects the total value of sales income for both of those activities, it doesn't reflect the expenses involved in generating that income.

Sorry mate, being an idiot - meant if the costs incurred by the outsourcer in generating income were taken into account the net profit margin would decrease.
Shoot me now - it'd be a mercy killing!!!!
