Ross Barkley

I think the fact that any form of statistics have Berkely superior to Aguaro utterly discredits those statistics as a serious source of data!

That's true but different positions, and it's an unfair comparison.

However, there's not many midfielders of Barkley's age that will have the goal/assists tally that he has this campaign.

People look for any reason to slate him, but a bit like Stones, it's really just down to a young player going through a rough patch of form.

Barkley, with his tail up, running at Defenders is top class! The rest of his game is going backwards though! Imagine this kid after a season working with someone like Klopp? He would either be in traction or being hailed as world class!

As I said, his stats this season speak for themselves.

He has been great at times this season. At others he's been off and lately he's been pretty bad (he looked better yesterday).

However, 12 goals and 10 assists for us this season. At 22. The consistency will come. When he's in form and confident there's not many better young players around.

Even though he had a bad game at Wembley (well, dreadful first half, he was better when we stepped up in the second half, as they all were), he conversely was awesome for us at the Etihad in the league cup semi.

And however poor he was in the semi, he is clearly instructed to play high up the pitch. I wouldn't go as far to say his performance was 'unforgivable'. I'd say Rom (best striker we've had in years but also somebody who now thinks he's ready to be at a top top club) missing 7 chances including a penalty in our biggest game of the season was far worse...

Barkley will always get more grief as he is a local lad. That's a fact. It shouldn't be the case but because he can be so frustrating at times when he plays within himself then it will happen.

To say he hasn't had a great season is ridiculous though. He's been extremely good and if not for the emergence of Alli (who conversely has been found wanting in games like the WBA one last Monday when he was easily marked out of the game by Yacob), his good form would have been rightly praised a lot more.

Take the rough with the smooth. He'll get there, and he's very good as it is.

Spot on, he can be frustrating and was dreadful in the Derby but so was the rest of the team. The whole team and the manager have gone to the dregs. Would like to see him sor out his fitness for next season, his bum looks to big. Hoepfully he will sign a new contract and not want away

Klopp would have him running round like an idiot. That is not Barkley game at all.

I think he's got a lovely bum x

Don't think he'll ever be world class or anywhere near it, but will be top class, just needs the right coach now who won't indulge him

About right, that.

Should be at least PL team of the season class - season in, season out. While his stats are a great return for any midfielder they haven't told the full story.

This season for Everton: 44 appearances, 12 goals, 10 assists.

Not bad is it?

Compare that to last season: 36 appearances, 2 goals, 3 assists. And he's pretty much doubled his goals and trebled his assists from 13/14 when we were flying.

I agree sometimes he has a habit of dwelling on the ball and there are still things he needs to work on/learn but his final ball is improving and he is having more influence on more games. Even yesterday when not at his best he got an assist and sprung into life at the edge of the box to get the ball to Lennon who put the cross in for our 2nd goal.

He can be frustrating, but he's obviously going to be a very good player... let's stop writing him off eh?

I agree and have never done that for him or Stones. But if rumours are anything to go by he may not be here next season!
