The thing is that we don't exist in a bubble. I understand those who say 'I never want us to lose' but (without meaning to be inflammatory) I sometimes think it may be a case of 'see how deep my passion runs'. There are potential scenarios where a defeat would be preferable. If the RS were on the cusp of completing the quadruple (fa cup, league cup, European trophy & the premier) and all that stood between this was their nearest rivals having to win a game in hand against us (when we were comfortably in mid-table) would we really want to win and give them a record that the media would never stop going on about? Just for the sake of a meaningless win? Now, I'm not suggesting that the Leicester match is such a situation (for the record I'm ambivalent about the result - courtesy of Martinez). However, although Tottenham aren't one of the Sky 5 they are next in line with excessive media coverage and pots of money thrown at them over the years. They receive all this positive attention despite not having won the league since 1961, whereas we, who have won it 4 times since then, get relatively little.

I'm going to start requesting a moderator to review threads where people start suggesting allowing other teams to win at the expense of EVERTON losing.

Surely there is something on this in the forum rules. 'Inflammatory'

Might ask Judge Advocate General @The Esk

or head enforcer @Groucho to check it out on behalf of Chairman DD

Even if it is a mild act of discouragement about such threads.

As far as I'm concerned any bluenose wanting Everton to ever get beat or lose (not many do) wants to have a serious look at themselves.

We are supporters of Everton Football Club.

Not some pub team from Bootle.

Time to get some pride back into people. Simple as that.

As it seems that some are lacking any.

While I personally can not contemplate wanting us to lose, it's really nothing new.

Remember the rows over the City game which may have been crucial to Liverpool winning the title?

I think it's daft, like. How can you want Everton to not win?

Its nonsensical.

Its like one of these half-and-half scarves. For a friendly game yes. Understandable. But of a competitive game?

No.

If this sort of attitude is going around EFC it will be the death of the club.

A team is only as good as its desire to win.

When you come up against a team with a desire to win. You've got to have more desire to win. Its simple.

Don't get it myself either.

Same folk that talk about Everton letting them down again or Everton ruining their weekend by losing and then they talk utter crap like "maybe losing is a good thing because of blah blah blah..."

I like the Leicester fairy talk as much as the next chap but I still want to humiliate them 10-0 given the chance...

Obviously they're the ones that will humiliate us but lol

I'll be wanting us to smash them and provide some extra drama in the season.

Sadly Swansea already gave a sneak preview of the type of performance we'll be putting in.

We've done more than enough for them already. Our 13th rated defence only conceded 1 goal to Spurs in two games.I never want Everton to lose, although if it guaranteed a managerial change,I wouldn't be as gutted as normal.

I really hope Leicester win the League, and they almost certainly will, but not if it means beating Everton. I never, ever
want Everton to lose.

I've said on another thread that I'm going to a bet on us to beat them, because that'd be just like Everton and I've got
a funny feeling.

Er, I might change my mind about the bet if we get beat by Bournemouth, not that I think we will.

I've only read the first and last page but it looks like I'm alone here.

If they don't seal it this weekend, yes I want Leicester to beat us in a meaningless fixture for us.

Awaits flak. NEA.
