True. But it's Martinez who practically broke the team up. Theres no excuses left. I think Martinez is a wonderful person but he's toxic to our club now. Fans need to smoke him out.

Just my personal opinion, but unless Moshiri is prepared to invest >significantly< in the playing squad (by that I mean a £100m + investment this summer - which nothing at all suggests he will) then we have absolutely no business at all linking ourselves with Mourinho, or even Pellegrini. Both of whom could walk into most clubs with their record. Nothing wrong with ambition, I believe even Syria offered Mourinho the job and he turned it down, however if we are being realistic it's not even worth discussing in my opinion.

Our best bet is targeting the tier beneath those to demonstrate our ambition. Either a prominent young coach like Howe who has worked wonders and earned his stripes at Bournemouth (I believe someone earlier mentioned the likes of Tuchel and Klopp who both came from Mainz 05 to Dortmund and did exceedingly well) or we go for a coach with good European pedigree with something to prove like QSF, De Boer or Koeman. All of whom would be excellent appointments.

I have my doubts on Favre, Bielsa, Cocu and the like but they are all options I would get behind.

Whatever happens, this appointment (and we are assuming there will be one before the start of next season) is a major indicator of where Everton will sit over the next 3-5 years and beyond. Get it right, keep key players, give the fans a much needed rise and invest in the right places and there is no reason we can't be looking at European Football of some sorts for 2017-2018.

Equally, it could just as easily go the other way. Everton aren't we!

With the resources De Boer has in Holland he should win the title every year - he hasn't thus he is a failiure
With the resources Mourinho has had at Chelsea first time and Madrid he should have won the league every year, he didn't - and he didn't win anything in europe either - thus a failiure
Guardiola should have won the league every year in germany by a mile and should be winning european trophies every season really - he hasnt so a failiure


Wasn't doing well before the announcment - City where 3 points off the top when they annoucned Guardiola mate, and their form dipped badly afterwards, it's picked up now ofc but it had a 100% noticable negative effect ont he team - and as for why are they in the CL still then, for the QF they had started to recover and play well again and against Kiev they beat them whilst still not playing very well - just that Kiev where so far below them they could get awya with it.


City fans wouldn't know a good ,manager if they had him mate, they are a spoilt brat of a fanbase by and large the ones who post on the internet are at least, they are criticising the bets manager they ever have had by the way - because pelligrini is definitely that

Rather look at this is the same manager who bought a 19yo Isco and made him a starter, brought a 18yo Cazorla into the villareal first team and made him a core player for them, who turned forlan from a united reject at 24 into the top scorer in spain and the CL the following season or who built a team around riquelme and got the best out of journeyman and young players

Ineahacho has played a part in 31 games this season mate, Bony in 32, could he have brought him on faster - possibly, but you can argue that maybe the last 6 months he has improved and is now ready and the manger is timing it perfectly for his development.

But by all means you may think the bloke who made Isco and Cazorla when they were still in their teens isn't very good at judging young players and bringing them along correctly

You would honestly rather have a manager who ahs won 4 titles in Holland with by far the bets team in the country and done absolutely nothing else, than have a man who ahs reaxched the QF of europe 5 times and the SF twice with three seperate teams?

Hard to compare the Spanish clubs with Ajax but in terms of years as a manager you'd hope De Boer would end up having a more trophy laden career in Europe.

I was also negative about De Boer but the tactics and systems he uses as well as his turning replacements for players sold into internationals is really impressive. They also hadnt won the league in years before he took over...they didnt achieve thst last season either and perhaps Cocu is a better manager BUT if De Boer brought his coaching staff with him it looks really impressive...

I wouldnt fancy a 60+ year old manager myself as i would like someone to come in and build something long term. But if we went for an older manager then for me is go for del bosque rather than pelligrini.

Has he made any decent signings at City and attracted top players to join there? Im not sure if he has but the bad ones do stick out.

Hes cleared out players and brought better ones in overall. If a manager came in and saw:

Galloway
Besic
McCarthy
Deulofeu
Barkley
Lukaku

Also the kids + money to spend and ALL funds from sales then its a really exciting squad to work with.

You're absolutely right Keiran, as of yet no-one has any idea what Moshiri intends to do. But when you suggest Howe or another up and coming manager. I have to put his question to you, Besides Howard Kendall, when was the last time we appointed a young up and coming manager that actually worked out for us?

The thing is mate we're at a crossroads and you may be right to suggest that we can't afford to sit at the table of the high rollers. But if we don't do it now, this train is going to pass. And we might see another generation of Evertonians growing up without any silverware. Personally I think that would be disaster.

Many of us are pinning are hopes on the new ownership, sure it may be delusional and misguided. Who knows, we could be seeing a new era, either way, we'll find out within weeks in my estimation. In between time considering the week we've just had, who'd you go for, say we had the money like? Would you still pick Eddie Howe or Sean Dyche?
