The thing I really dont get, is why the people in charge of our club didnt come out with a statement last week or more importantly havent today (yet). To me that is what a good leader would do, they wouldnt just hang on and hope for the best. Very poor imo.
What exactly would you want them to say? Boards very rarely release statements unless they strongly support the manager. I expect that isn't the case, hence the silence.

What I don't get is if we're working under the impression that Martinez is a goner come what may, the board/Moshiri are clearly saying he isn't fit to take us on next season.

If that's the case, why on earth are we not removing him now? It's like they're saying the Cup doesn't matter and they're happy having someone they don't believe in taking charge of the biggest game of our season. I appreciate that were we to sack him then we wouldn't have our 1st choice person in place, but I just find it impossible to see how the players can perform like they did last night and then put in a decent performance on Saturday. Their head doesn't seem in it at all.

We're throwing away the Cup here.

Maybe the people the board has been speaking with are not available immediately? That will be the only reason why Martinez is not removed now. But I think we might even do better in the cup if we have no manager in charge.

bringing in care taker managers presents it's own problems, especially you are looking to install a long term successor, it is much easier for that successor to come in after the failure of a previous manager, and all the good will that brings and time it buys them to do that job. Ironically the caretaker having success can actually hinder long term plans, and in some cases throw those plans completely out of the window, and in exchange for short term success (some will argue it's worth it), you comprise a long term plan and might actually set the club back, some examples off the top of my head, Stuart Lancaster, Tim Sherwood and Di Matteo (the champs league quite possibly being worth it!)

An interim manager is temporary. Maybe Big Joe is the right option.

All 3 examples I posted were interim, Much like utd with Gigg's hanging round like a bad smell, I'd much rather we get the appointment right, rather than have a candidate not really of the right calibre swooping in on the back of an FA cup win, I think you nailed when you said the new manager's either won't make a decision till summer or aren't available

Worryingly at the Palace game a fella I know who's close to Elstone has heard that he's being given until Christmas regardless of the derby and SF result. He's been told that if we're not in the top 6 by then he's out in Jan
Even more worrying is that he's also been given the £100m to spend in the Summer

*gulp

The thing is, lose on saturday and the season is over so lose every game and it wont matter from that point on.

It would be nice in that situation that the fans get a heads up about martinez leaving so we still don't have the fear of it not coming true.

vault me on it but there is no chance now

The fan base alone is going to be very vocal as to what they want the board to do. there is absolutely no basis any more for keeping him. The small glimmer is winning the cup sure, but i'll believe that when i see it.

If we brought Joe Royle in as interim manager it's clearly a different scenario than the one you've given because he wouldn't want the job long term. Therefore I don't think it creates any of the problems you set out.

Also we haven't won a trophy in 21 years and we've got a good chance now so it's one we should do everything to grasp.

The failure to sack Martinez weeks ago is unacceptable from the board.

Great Article @The Esk

Whilst our best chance of silverware is looking less likely with every day that goes by. There is no getting away from the fact that Moshri will not have invested and wiling to invest more with out a return at the end.

He won't be getting yearly dividends not just yet but he will be after a capital gain and the only way to do that is to improve everything that exists at Everton at the moment. This year is hurting but even if we do win the FA Cup that will only be the start of what will be a bright future.

There may be discussions going on about compo as well as a caretaker management. The latter should simply come from within until a permanent new manager is appointed.

However, the fact that there is delay makes me feel that a Celtic style solution (how they dealt with Ronny Deila) is in the offing so there is no big rush.

That is, manager goes at end of season, but he can stay and try to win a trophy in the meantime.

Cant believe in any way shape or form that this will happen. The club will be in absolute meltdown if here is here on the first game of next season, it'll be bad enough if he is here if we get knocked out on Saturday.

This is all turning ridiculously sour and something needs to be done now.
