Never got used to Johnson's "screech" voice Bon Scott was a huge miss for them - now they've replaced a singer who "can't hear" with a singer who can't "sing" Pack in lads
I like(d? :( ) Brian the Pirate's snarling vocals, different from Bon, but still great, and it fit the sound of the band. Plus you can't replace the irreplaceable, Bon was a fantastic persona as well as a good singer, it was normal for the next one to be different. Tbh as far as actual singing ability goes I'd rate Brian a bit higher than Bon, as Bon's voice is much more screechy and underdeveloped. That's not to say that he couldn't have developed it further if he had, er, more time, let's say... even though even if he did - reckless lifestyle and he is older than all of the rest of the band...

Plus Axl can sing, he's a really good singer, but he's a 2hat of the highest order, which is why everyone has a problem with him. His vocals are closer to Bon than to Brian as well, so I expect some old songs to return to the setlists.

They missed Bons lyrics more than anything.

That Riff Raff post just now. Not a chance that Johnson could have written that. Or pretty much any of Bons lyrics.

Down Payment Blues to Sink The Pink, Rock or Bust, Rock or *insert random verb*.

Aye that's true, but I can't say that Bon was the better singer (personally obviously). More character, better, more gritty/witty (lol) lyrics? Yeah, true. Better singer? Nah.

Backseat confidential (the song that became Beating around the bush) is one of his greats for me, albeit unreleased. I just find it fun and it sounds like he's put something that actually happened to him in it, and it sounds like he made the lyrics a-la Lemmy, just on the spot lol

axl has one of the best rock voices ever imo, lost it a bit recently ..but then he is 53 and really does sing on the edge..massive noob obvs, but then most lead singers are..

ac/dc are just a massive money making machine now, who would have been a better replacement?

Marc Storace from Krokus! I mean he admits to half-impersonating Brian/Bon anyway lol

Never heard that, but heard of it, if that makes sense.

They are different. Both good in their way.

Johnson was the prefect replacement, and Bon was on a one way ticket to oblivion either way.

Still 100% convinced he wrote most of Back in Black.

Sake. Brian Johnson going deaf, so US gigs cancelled, and looking for a STAND IN for their summer gigs??

Best call it a day imo, rather than morph into a karaoke band.

^^^^

Don't understand how they could be that broke or that bored, to want to continue. They've done it all...stick a fork in it and call it done, Angus. Must be terrified of retirement for some reason.

Bon did write Back in Black and died just before recording

Suppose they like doing it.

Pays ok as well.

43+ years though Roydo...I don't get it, TBH. No doubt some of it is the "it's all I know" thing but FFS. I can't see him dealing with Rose's antics as well unless he's somehow magically turned a corner there. He may be able to hold it together for one small tour here but he won't get away with being late with Angus or an AC/DC crowd more than once, if at all. I definitely don't see it being a permanent thing...they may pack it in after these gigs, who knows.

Maybe the point is that there should be no replacement and it is time to say goodbye?
