How do you figure we'll be favored? We didn't beat Palace in the league, we didn't beat Watford. A final between either of them and us is even odds for me. Bobby has to beat United first, who we also haven't beat or drawn this year. Can't see us improving this week if we couldn't do it today. Although, maybe the players have been resting since the QF so they have the incredible amount of fitness it takes to compete in a football match at the most phenomenal venue.

We'll be favourites because the bookies will be carrying much higher liabilities on Everton than they will on those two potential opponents.

In Cup Finals bookies don't have opinions, they have liabilities.

Everton would have attracted quite a bit of money at the turn of the year and throughout the tournament at big odds whereas Palace and Watford would have been unconsidered by most outside their own fans.

So if we do by some miracle win our semi final, they will be looking to attract bettors to our opponents in order to balance the book ergo their price will be lengthened to get them in and ensure the outcome that proves the old adage.

That the bookie never loses :)

Also very interested in those who wanted to keep him till after the Semi, why? Now is the perfect time to get rid, new manager bounce for two massive games next week.

The whole thing from start to finish was awful today.
Horrible bench, horrible line up, horrible performance, horrible result.

Where do I begin?

Line up - What formation did we have today? What roles did our players have? No strategy, formation or tactics at all. So in keeping with the whole season. What do Osman, Gibson & Kone offer for us as a club going forward?

Bench - What is the point in Niasse if he isnt going to play in a dead rubber? Where on earth is Galloway? Why is Pienaar on the bench?
Again, why on earth we have Gibson, Kone, Osman, Pienaar, Howard on the bench when they will all be leaving within weeks?

Performance - symptomatic of the whole season and current malaise the club is in. No confidence, no tactics, no awareness, no leadership, no idea. The 'incredible' values we apparently show (from the boss not me I may add) are know where to be seen. Wheres the fight, desire, willingness to cover every blade of grass?! We cant hold onto a lead yet it seems we cant recover if we go a goal down either.

Result - Not even bothered. Were going know where under this manager long term. Except down. Show me another club that has dropped on average 8 places down the league in three years except Villa?

I appreciate we have Wembley next week but I must repeat that my belief is this manager needs removing as soon as possible.
The players need lifting, the fans need lifting, the whole club seems to be waiting for something to happen.

Get me a beer.
Spot on mate.

For the people who talk about semi finals, they mean absolutely nothing unless you win the cup. Look at Villa they got to a final last year and were relegated today, I don't think they will be boosting about cup finals today.

i'm still yet to hear a valid reason for not sacking him right now.
There probably isn't one. It just seems as though they're going to wait until after the semi final or at the end of the season now. Some suggest that sacking him now will increase our chances of winning next Saturday. Its only 7 days away so I can't see someone influencing a change of mentality in that time. Thats not to say it could be worth a shot but it just seems unlikely. The silence is deafening.

Fact of the matter is I am only going to Wembley to take my son to his first Everton related Wembley game.
If it wasnt for that, I wouldnt bother.

Nil Satis Nisi Optimum - LOL

Prepared to see 8-10 goals against us in the next two BIG games.

So happy I never wasted 2 hours watching today, he needs to go now.

Let Baines, Jags and Dunc run the show for the remaining games :)

Just seen this (cc @JimEFC ) in the match thread

Koeman:
"I'm really disappointed ...it wasn't good enough.... At least we got one point but at this final part of the season it is not enough. We want to fight for Europe and it is not a step forward"

Martinez:
"We overcame that with incredible fight and determination to get a positive result... we found a way to compete against a good Southampton side."

Think this sums up how poor our managers mentality is

He's embarrassing.

Stood by you through thick and thin Robbie lad, had a long hard think, but this has just got me off the fence into 'OUT' I'm afraid.

"We overcame that with incredible fight and determination to get a positive result. But the disappointment is when we go ahead and we don't win. We got really stretched as a squad and we found a way to compete against a good Southampton side."
