If the decision has already been made to axe Martinez at the end of the season, then get rid of h
Yup I imagine a week tomorrow if the results go the way they're looking he's sacked

Absolutely no point in sacking him after a loss in the semi though. Might as well hold out till the end of the season at that point. He needs to go now to give us even a remote chance of getting past United.

Wrist ? .

* oh yeah , did it tying his bootlaces first day at training lol
Nah he came from Russia with a wrist injury, they had to operate it, so now he can't run, despite never been seen wearing protective gear or anything for it. Or rarely being seen at all.

Phenomenal sense made from Martinez about that as a reason why Niasse isn't ready.

Even a mega-pumped up Joe Royle or Peter Reid type would struggle to spring this team back to life in a week

They wouldn't.

Look at the passion from Funes Mori when he scored, or how vocal Robles is in every game.

The right manager would have us raring to go. The players have lost faith in Martinez and once that happens it is basically game over.

I'd sack him now it's like the seasons phasing out to nothing

How much pressure he's under from the board is an open question.

It should be huge, he should be looking at the two games this week as must wins to even have a chance to keep his job in the summer, but we'll see.

Would you say the same thing before playing Watford, CP and Soton?

I can understand not being able to run with Ross-like exploding knees . But exploding wrists ?

* I get it, now . If he scores , raising his arms in celebration will cause them to fall off

As we all know winning is a habit - and the obvious downing of tools by 80% of this team has not left us in the best position for a sudden renaissance - Of course I would love us to bounce back and dare I say it win the cup, but even the most optimistic blue must think that unlikely to happen after this last month or so.

Question, does anyone know for certain that their isn't some contract get out for us with Martinez based on poor league performances in back to back seasons?

Actually thinking that is the only reason to keep him till the summer to activate and get rid whilst saving 9-12m in severance...

Yeah clutching at straws now

Would I think games against watford, palace and soton when we're guarenteed a crappy midtable finish regardless of results are as important as an anfield derby and an fa cup semi final?

Of course not.

If Martinez wins the next two games he can at least point to successes in derbies and the cup to justify his existence this summer. I'd still probably lean to getting rid of him but we'll see.

If he doesn't win those two games, then he's got nothing at all to reccomend him as a manager based on the last 18 months.

Our board should be saying, win at anfield, win the semi, win the final, win the last 2 home games and maybe you'll be here next year, lose them and you have no chance. That should be the level of pressure on him.
