Winning the cup is nice. Very nice. I really hope we do so. But it is not important in the grand scheme of things. Sure, it gets us an EL spot, which would also be nice to win.

But finishing 2nd in the league is much more important to the success of the club. It suggests a title might not be far away.

I don't think I'll be able to express my viewpoint on this correctly, writing on my phone.

Sorry.

It is "important in the scheme of things".

We have replica trophies of F.A. Cups we have won on show in the (sadly underused) trophy room.

As well as the Cup Winners Cup won on that never to be forgotten night in Rotterdam.

I am not having anyone denigrate those achievements and the glorious memories I have of Wembley and Rotterdam by telling me they weren't "important".

You are insulting your own club's history by making such outlandish claims.

Nope.

EL winners now go to the final qualifying round of the CL.

That is how important winning the EL would be to Liverpool.

Or any team that won it but finished outside their own league's CL places.

You could see last night what it meant to them - they want to win it, for both of the reasons - winning a trophy and the CL it brings.

I think I speak for many herein our forum when I say that watching our intra-city rivals' performance vs Dortmund lent us a not a little envy. I know this is heretical talk, but don't we wish that our team could play with such 'never say die'?
The Martinez apologists robotically parrot '72 points'. But the RS replaced a manager who got them 84 points in our same 'but 72 points,eh?' season...and was still seen (correctly) as inadequate.

Thankfully, I genuinely believe change is imminent.

It cannot happen fast enough...we have fallen waaaay behind.

No need to ever cast an envious eye over at that shower of scruffs my good man. Our day is just around the corner, a day that will last a lifetime in the memory.

Don't let the pain and disappointment we feel regarding Martinez ( i feel it too ) cloud our feelings for Everton. His time is nearly up now and hopefully we are about to enter a fantastic stage in the life of Everton

3 points tomorrow wouldn't go amiss to try and get some momentum going to their crap hole next week.

May I take a moment to recommend to you two philosophical romantics to get a room? ;)
