Ferguson couldn't even manage his own finances, how do you think he'd fair managing a football club?

Jesus wept.
He's also already part of the coaching team that's currently failing. People only want him because of who he is, no one's calling for Dennis Lawrence or Graeme Jones.

If you keep doing what you've always done.... You'll always get what you've always got...

He says he's going to keep doing what he's done for the last 7 years.

he shows no commitment to change, things will get worse not better, he needs to go.

He's not a pure Martinez man if you know what I mean and I think people just want a change

What harm could he do as caretaker that Bobby isn't doing already

Won't happen though

The calls for Ferguson to come in are bewildering.

Also, a loss against Palace would be worst-case as far as I'm concerned. If he wins the cup then he's here for another season, if not he's gone come June.

that is most likeley the scenario mate yeah, but could the board actually justify it still keeping him longer than this summer? If you use the barometer of winning the fa cup, martinez has combined that with relegation so it is no indicator that he would suddenly improve after winning it. but that is a moot point as i can't see into the future.

the call for ferguson is not because i think he is a good manager or anything like that, it is because it would give the fans a bit of a lift with him and joe in charge til may. If the fans are lifted, the players will, especially players like barkley/baines/jags who are blues. Remember we dont need to lift ourselves for every single game, just need to beat 2 teams as opne more win takes us to 40 points anyway and safety.

I agree with some bits mate - just I'm not into joe royle for some reason as interim but if Ferguson/ and him then do get it he can always prove me wrong and win us games lol

Sacking martinez now in some highly unlikeley scenario would leave us managerless, only royle has the ability at least to take over in the short term. Personally i would want the the club to take time to find a replacement, not the first unemployed manager to flash an interest at it instead.

and i can accept that we wont go on a 7 game winning streak with them in charge, ferguson could well stay as a coach only for the whole of his career which is fine, it can't be any worse than losing every week considering that is our current predicament. we all know that the season rests on 2 games now, would you rather us go there with a everton legend in charge off the back of poor form, or keep going with a manager who is losing the players and the fans at the same time.

...I don't think the bankruptcy thing has a single, remote bit of sway on anything TBH mate, it doesn't mean he's skinted himself and now shops for tins in the B&M or whatnot.

I dont think ferguson doing what he is doing is a factor. I would argue all of martinez's staff from his previous failed role are the ones letting the players down behind the scenes. As it has been said, the same manager, same coaches, same results, same lack of progress.....

I don't want us to lose against Palace but in the cold light of day that result may be what's best for the club in the long run. If he is sacked tomorrow and we bring in a replacement by next week we'll have a better chance of winning the Semi, IMO. Certainly can't be any worse of a chance.

Unfortunately I fear he may not go until we're knocked out and our season is well and truly over.

....this is part of the problem for me with RM, and with the club as a whole at times TBH - (and this isn't a criticism of you by the way E, not by any stretch, your post just made me think on how much he talks up the away form) - words like 'acceptable', 'respectable', all that...

We need to look at what that really means - words like this that are 'oft bandied about in relation to our club - and it means 'average'. That's all. Just that. And he's happy with 'average', RM is. He thinks he achieves with 'average'. It's the norm and as a fanbase we have, over time, become WELL conditioned to simply accepting that without question....

'We are EVERTON...and we are...well, average really I suppose, we're average and happy with our lot...'

But the MOSH involvement changes the tide on that, for the first time since the 80's really. And we need to learn to aim higher than average now. He certainly will. I was very flippant (being an arse) in a post last night describing him as 'the ninja on the roof, biding his time'. But that's pretty much what's happening. He was never gonna come in, shake the tree and watch the coconuts roll. But after an alleged (definite) 14-18 months or so watching on then, well, if you think he's gonna accept mediocrity on a potential MASSIVE personal investment then you're mad...and you may have taken a knock. On the head. Possibly with a coconut.

Don't think the MOSH does 'average'. We have a manager that DOES do 'average'.

In fact it seems that's all he really knows.

So, I reckon we should all start learning to aim a bit higher than that because it feels like such a long time since we did doesn't it?

I know what you're saying. Having an away form like we do, couple with a better home form, we'd be gold. Away form isn't the issue at all.

Big Joe's got the experience, he's a very good man manager. Bring in the likes of Ferguson, Sheedy and Unsworth to help him. That cannot be worse than Martinez!

thats my point, we havent won a game in 2 months, before that, 2 months. We have enough points to fend off a late resurgance from newcastle and sunderkand and for all intents and purposes we only need to focus on the cup games.

I know it wont happen, i know martinez is here til the end of the season at the very least. This is more wishful thinking than anything else, i for one but have a little bit more enthusiam for the rest of the games if Joe was leading the team, even if it turned out he wasn't great at the job. No newcastle fan thinks worse of Shearer for taking over a sinking ship, all Joe has to do is install a cup winning mentality into the team for a couple of games and the season isn't completely hopeless.

He'll get the end of the season.

He will then have to explain what happened and try and save his job.

The board then either have to stick of twist.

From my persepctive we are in a win win situation now, we win a game nice one - it's what i always want but it won't change a thing about wanting him out and the fact that i am certain he is going at the latest when the cup is finished for us, we lose then it hastens Martinez going so a nice silver lining to the cloud of a defeat, will be honest - last two games i have watched us play i've been watching us in a fog and hardly felt involved anyways - got to that point with me now watching this team with Martinez still here
