The reason for the difference in our away results compared to our home form is obvious to a blind man

Away from the home the opposition will generally come at us more and leave space in behind and we're a decent side on the counter with pace and a quality striker.

At home sides sit in more and we get caught with the converse by over loading going forwards and leaving our backline exposed. We're also generally not great at breaking sides down when they park the bus.

Hardly a complex conundrum is it?

There's also a factor that is universal to both our home and away form - our defensive frailty

It seems to be for our manager.

It has been the same at home for coming up to about 2 seasons - teams started to do it at the back-end of Martinez's first season, but yet, here we are 2 years later and nothing has changed.

He deserves to be sacked for that reason alone.

That's what people think about West Ham too.

Everton need to sack Martinez and get a proper proven manager to make a statement of intent.
yeah mate that's true. Just said to Kithnou then different view points from different teams. but it does raise the little thing of when we are replacing long serving managers with local relegated ones you can see why some fans tend to gloss over us, been a good while since we made any statements of intent.

Three seasons ago, I opposed to the idea of having Martinez as the new manager was because he relegated Wigan and he had not proved in the league that he was good enough to achieve better things than Moyes. He won the FA Cup with a small club but I was concerned with his ability as a PL manager. He is not a green manager. He now has spent 6/7 years in PL.

completley true that he is still not proving anything in the league. Especially as 5 out of 6 seasons are in the bottom half of the table despite the money available and talent increasing drastically.

to be honest back then i was just wanting a change from Moyes 11 years. Martinez wasn't my first choice but at the same time i was happy to get behind him either way. Once feb last year hit, thats when it started to dawn on me how bad things were under him. And again back then it wasn't bad luck, it was poor tactics, it was terrible results (november to march wielded wins against burnely / QPR / Newcastle and QPR again, sound familiar?). although the team was worse last year on the pitch, the bad results and big gap between credible wins still existed. September or october to march/april last year. This season, September to February (west brom to stoke)

Reading the West ham forum thread on us yesterday pretty much summed up what we are, just a team that exist to most people. As one of them put it 'if everton disbanded one summer, you wouldn't notice until christmas'. and 'you only notice them when you come and play them'.

If anything, without sounding too dramatic, it might be a statement of intent to other fans if we sacked martinez outright no matter if we won the cup or not. Send the message that it wasn't good enough for everton and we are looking for a new manager. Least give us a day of being on the headline, then make another with an ambitious recruitment.
West Ham can only dream of the history we have in the game, some cheek is that, they have been irrelevant for decades, have a decent season and they've got delusions of grandeur.

We bossed them off the park with 10 men last time we played them.

We've got a crap manager that's our problem, our squad is miles better than theirs, we'll be back to knock them down a few pegs next season without a shadow of doubt.

as a club, most defintelty but as a team, it is true that if you were a younger fan especially, you have nothing to know us by other than rooney once played here and we are next on the fixture list. hell we threatened to overstep the mark and went out of two european competitions in a row!

Older fans are always going to know who we are, but younger fans can easily have that atitude about us, same as we have about west ham or west brom or anyone else in the list.
