I recall a lot of fans on radio phone in,s beeing very uncertain about brown shoes when he was short listed for the everton job due to his shortcomings at wigan
And same happened with Moyes.
One thing we've probably learnt at Goodison is that what they've done elsewhere seems to mean little in terms of how they fit here.
I'm genuinely bored of hearing about Wigan.

Just listened back to that 5 Live bit on him. As much as Chris Sutton was spot on (who would have ever thought..?) that Rory guy (was it The Times journo?) was unconvinced and Andy Townsend was defending him to the point of comparing us to Crystal Palace. The tide may be turning, but think it would only be after any possible derby and Wembley defeat that the media as a whole start to turn the knife. Obviously not wanting us to lose those, let's hope we see football not run by the media for once, and see the board make a pro-active decision to sack him sooner. It could help us avoid defeat in the derby and Wembley. In fact given the state of morale right now, it couldn't exactly make it worse. Rock bottom.

You must be a young lad or new to Everton if you think this is rock bottom.

A few weeks? It's been three seasons. I'm not even expecting him to go before the end of the season, a change now makes little sense.

What I don't understand is the moment any Everton fan shows a slight bit of discontent towards any aspect of the club he/she is automatically labelled as a kopite or Geordie or something else completely meaningless. Lads who actually organised themselves to put even the smallest bit of pressure on the board? Cringey kopites. Fans who questioned Martinez's performance? Under 30 FIFA playing Geordie beauts.

Sometimes we get the club we deserve because the unfortunate truth is not enough of us are really bothered about Everton's success to do anything about it. As soon as anyone has a go they're laughed at as a kopite.

I never condone true kopite behaviour but equally last time I checked they, along with Spurs, Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle, and Leicester have a genuine quality manager at the helm not someone blatantly out of his depth.

Let's do nothing though, and then pretend we're not all relieved when Moshiri acts like a massive kopite and fires Martinez. At least it wasn't all us boss blues though, we didn't descend to that level.

I don't usually respond to people of your ilk, but I'll humour you.

It's been 2 seasons, one of which might yield us a trophy.

What makes you think you wield so much power that you can push someone like Moshiri into making a decision? Martinez will be fired in the summer, and you'll be claiming you forced it no doubt.

It's posters like you that continue to bring down the quality of debate on this forum and the reason why many decent Blues are leaving.

My point would still be the same. Morale has been much, much lower than this previously....but we didn't have social media to whip it into a spiral of doom.

It's a reflection of modern society this thread. I'm officially an old git now I think.

It's not really though is it mate?
Plenty of hope for the future still around...

Agreed. As I said turn of phrase. The feeling of 'rock bottom.' Perhaps guilty of over-egging emotion maybe, but there we go.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, morale could certainly be higher without the presence of Martinez, and indeed, hopes for the future would perhaps have a greater chance of coming to fruition. For all the hope loaded in the Martinez squad, I can't see how we realise it under him.

But that's the problem with you younger fans, you're so emotional and keen to exaggerate. Just chill out and let things happen, as they most certainly are going to.

As I said, maybe my emotion carried me. Still though, morale comparatively can't be high, and for me, as long as Martinez is here, that spiral will be perpetuated. So my point remains the same too.
