We're getting a fee

Probably allocation money. In the funky world of MLS, clubs can do certain things in relation to transfers or performance to get basically free money from the league. Like teams that qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League get a check, or teams that didn't qualify for the MLS playoffs, or don't have a 3rd designated player.

And they can use that money for specific things, like signing a player from outside of MLS.

So, in essence, Don Garber is writing us a check for Howard.

Yep.

Shame like Neville and Cahill, we waited far too long to move him on. Think he's shown some unpleasant streaks of egotism as well.

However he did well for most of his time here and -- a brief window of Martyn aside -- gave us a solid keeper for the first time since Southall.

Sure he'll have a blast in the States where he's revered and going to be rolling in dosh. So no need to really feel too sorry for him. But good luck regardless, Tim.

Thanks for the memories Tim!

Great servant to the club, and a top pro. Hope he gets a good send off if he makes one last appearance this season.

SERVANT???

Wish I was paid over 50k a week to be a servant. What's up with fans thinking like this? He was an average employee overall who got paid a vast amount of money. Thanks for the work, in a bit Tim.

Yeah, was a good goalkeeper for us, but quickly deteriorated and nearly turned himself into a laughing stock.

Colorado will probably realise just as quick that they could have got a keeper from the US for a lot cheaper who is miles better. But that isn't our problem. Hah.

Cheers Tim, all the best.

I've been critical of Tim Howard over the last two or three seasons, hyper critical at times but hope his move to the Rapids goes well for him and if he's prepared to help promote Everton in the US then fair do's to him.
There's been some real quality from him and there's been some howlers, I guess that's the territory for goalies.
And if he does get the final home game against Norwich, let's hope he goes out with a clean sheet and a decent send-off.
