The difference being that they barely had a history of success before having a massive leg up to it.

No one can say Everton didn't pay their dues in that respect.

One of the biggest myths ever, City were a big club before the arab money.

EVERY club that wins the league, buys it. *

*Apart from Leicester.
Of course they bought the league. They just spent wisely. This investment just means we can compete in different markets. I'd still like us to be searching for those bargain signings to compliment the big names. I take no pride in us splashing the cash. It's all about trophies.

Most other supporters seem to like us, maybe that's the plucky little Everton thing, but I would hate for us to be seen as the Chelsea of the north.

Don't think we need to go steaming into the transfer market anyway. Stability in being able to compete would be a welcome change, then deserved progress. Our reputation is paramount, without that who are we?

One of the biggest myths ever, City were a big club before the arab money.

2 League titles, 4 FA cup wins, 2 League Cup win, 1 UEFA Cup win (when it was 3rd in the pecking order of european pots), 38/39 years spent outside the top division in its history

They have historically been a big club i'd agree mate, but compare our figures to those and we blow them out the water historically speaking

Don't think there's such a thing as buying the title now. That's a media construct to protect their favourite clubs. Not one of them was complaining when the old top 4 locked out the spots every year through huge spending in comparison to the rest of the league. None of them batted an eyelid when Liverpool got caught with their pants down spending money they didn't have to have a go at the title and champions league. Not a word about Uniteds or Liverpool's mega splurges in almost every window now. But City come along and throw a bit of cash around and immediately it's 'they're buying the title'. Rubbish. The old big clubs love a league where they justify themselves having a load of cash because of former successes about 30 years ago but don't want anyone else to join them in that bracket.

If we did start throwing money around (not that I think we will), all we would be doing is exercising our right to compete on a level playing with the majority of the top half of the prem. Hardly 'buying the title'. So called 'smaller' teams are inevitably better at spending money and building good sides precisely because they've not had it and have been forced to improve all other aspects of the club.

The likes of Liverpool United Arsenal dread the prospect of a level playing field in the prem because they know they would be outperformed by quite a few teams.

As a little thign though, honestly think so many of our fans have almost forgotten or don't realise just how big a club we once where and still actually are when you break down league and cup wins, the longevity in the top flight the amount of time spent int he top division, all of which should be something we are proud of and strive to reach again.

Also how insulting to us it is that the media try to bracket us in with the likes of West Ham, Stoke, Palace etc

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Personally I'd rather we use his input financial or otherwise to rebuild the commercial side of the club and grow to a consistent champs league / top 4 club that could sustain itself at that level without him.

Not in anyway worried about the RS, more concerned that becoming reliant on a benefactor puts a club at risk of doing a Blackburn

Couldn't give two shab-its what other fans think of us. They can kiss the fattest hairiest part of me arse!

Hopefully this fella means we can build on our impressive squad and become regular title contenders while still bringing through boss youngsters.

If spending would assure us the title, I would vote for that. But it doesn't, so the question for me isn't about the ethics of buying the title, it's a question of how best to establish a platform for long term success.

In the wake of all the good news regarding Mr. Farhad Moshiri, would we be happy to 'buy' a league title or would you want to do it the 'safe way', i.e cautious spending and slower progress?

We're all a bit guilty of looking at the likes of Chelsea and Man City and muttering under our breaths "But they bought that title".

Hand on heart, will you be saying the same if we do the same?

After all, can you imagine picking up a title before the RS?!

Just curious is all.

Me personally, I'd go with buy a title, I've been waiting long enough and let's be honest, 1.2 billion pounds is A LOT of money :)

to be fair that happened back in 1890.

What I am really looking forward to is the end of season speculation in the papers of which players what club will buy and how much money they have to spend on transfers. Used to be "Everton £10m" ........ 2016/17 ????m.

Sweet
