if Goodidon was

I have been thinking about this.

Would we have to come to some arrangement with the RS to play at The Pit for the duration of the building work?

Hmmm, not sure they'd agree to that without some ridiculous charges being levied on us.
That said, the nearest alternatives outside of the Premiership are Preston @ circa 23,000, Wigan @ circa 25,000, Bolton @ circa 28,000 or Blackburn at circa 31,000.

Probably been said before, but with his contacts in the steel industry i would say a new stadium is preferred option

never a better chance to get one at a reduced cost without the need for that supposedly all important 'retail link'

What other options would we have if Goodison was bulldozed and we were awaiting a rebuilt stadium?

I don't see coming to an arrangement with either of the Manc clubs as being suitable.

Anywhere but there. It just wouldn't be acceptable.

Not going to happen anyway imo.

There have been alot of assumptions in this thread about what is and isn't possible with regards to re-developing Goodison. These documents are fairly old now but show some of the things that could be done from the point of view of professionals:

1) Trevor Skemptons comments back in 2007: http://toffeeweb.com/season/06-07/comment/fans/13407-Skempton.asp
- Note that he was responsible for the St James Park re-development.

2) One of various documents written by Tom Hughes in the aftermath of Kirkby. At the time he presented documents to show how you could redevelop 1, 2, 3 or all 4 stands. This is the 3 stand design: http://toffeeweb.com/club/goodison/Redeveloped_Goodison_Park.pdf

Note that neither of these documents show all of the possibilities. I have seen other suggestions from both of the above 2 authors which are not included here.

On the point of redevelopment, I wonder how many fans of City, Saints, Arsenal, Leicester etc wish they'd spent years redeveloping their old grounds?

Cheers for the years GP, but your days are numbered. Give us something spanking new to fall in love with.

I know a few Arsenal fans and a some of them have mentioned to me exactly that. (for balance I should mention that one of them loves the Emirates).

edit: to be fair we didn't discuss re-development, they just said they missed it or wished they'd stayed.
