Yup. I agree 100%.

Controlling borders would be the proper way to sort this problem. By leaving the EU and taking back control of our borders we can implement an Australian point style system. Where immigrants would have to have the skills we need, no criminal record etc. etc.

Doesn't mean we should expose our own population to an increased risk....no matter how small. I appreciate you can't account for unforseen actions; but we know about Cologne, and we know the background/ethnicity of those responsible.

The risk went up exponentially when the 'asylum seekers' were allowed unhindered access into Germany

It is a great little microscope into how recklessly stupid people are in our society though.

It is shocking, but also fascinating. It's a commentary on two things - the unfortunate inherent racism and overall insular mindset of those with a nationalist viewpoint, and the insecurity and lack of research that leads to those things. It's also a microcosm on how otherwise normal people will show their true colours on the internet when they have a level of anonymity.

The racism from those who are nationalist is brought on by the feeling of an overall, invisible lurking threat to their perceived way of life, so while capable of extreme kindness to those in need, are also capable of extreme bigotry to large groups of people, often irrationally.

It's a mindset that you find over and over again throughout history, and is behind many of the greatest atrocities mankind has ever known - yet we never learn the lesson.
