Former Everton manager David Moyes admits he’d like to give John Stones “a clip around the ear” because of the Blues defender’s habit of risk-taking and reckons reports of the player’s transfer fee are wrong.
Everton rejected an offer from Chelsea last summer that would have made Stones the most expensive defender in British football history but his ex-boss Moyes acknowledges for all the England international’s amazing talent, he has a tendency to indulge in over-playing at times.
The 21-year-old gestured to home fans at Goodison Park to “calm down” during the game against Tottenham Hotspur in January after they reacted nervously to him executing a ‘Cruyff turn’ in his own penalty area.
Moyes, speaking on Sky’s Goals on Sunday, said: “I think it’s right [when he’s been accused of over-playing]. I feel like giving him a clip around the ear and saying ‘you’re really good at this but make sure you do the fundamentals well. Your natural ability will let you show how good you are on the ball.
“He’s very comfortable coming out of defence with it but the art of defending is really important and you shouldn’t forget that.”

The ginger pube left a prime baines on the bench so he could shoe horn a fossilized stubbs into the team until roque santa cruz utterly bummed him
He did with Baines what he does with all players: leaves them to rot on the bench while he figures out which of his arl ares he has to reluctantly let go.Possible Baines wasn't that good before Moyes got him, Moyes pretty much built his team around Baines and Pienaar, I reckon he knew what he was doing with tbh.
Under Moyes he went from quality to genuinely one of the best LB's in Europe.. Using Baines as a negative against Moyes is like slating his spending or transfer market ability imo.

...AKA 'leaving them to the next manager to bring through'.I prefer the phrase "moulding them into World Class players".

Barkley to Sheffield Wednesday. FFS, if that SKY sports crew had a pair of bollocks between them they'd have brought that up and nailed him on it.
Can't they just build us a new stadium and a training complex that is genuinely ours and we're not just renting it instead of paying a transfer fee?
You sure you posted this in the right thread lad?
