Funny how something as simple as sticking a player on the post ended up winning them the game (Mori's header).

Obviously not as progressive or innovative as just standing around aimlessly, but effective nevertheless.

Not Martinez's fault that Mori loses the initial header and Rom and McCarthy both switch off completely, like.

That goal had little to do with his tactics and everything to do with experienced players not doing their job.

Yeah, it's definitely not symptomatic of a larger problem that the entire country is aware of.

We have kept three consecutive clean sheets. We've looked better defensively since the turn of the year.

Of course there's still a problem, but that goal was down to errors from players, not the tactics.

I guess what many of us find so frustrating is that there is too often errors from players. There seems to be a climate of continual forgiveness of errors (often the same errors!). Perhaps a bit of the Sir Alex school of fear might have some place in the dressing room.

How many groundhog days can we have in one season?

Also, how many times this season has a rubbish team come to Goodison to "park the bus" and taken the lead? When did "parking the bus" stop mean looking for a 0-0 draw.

We must be the only basket case team that falls behind at home to rubbish teams "parking the bus" continually.

...reckon you would need to have come into the job with that attitude, whatever relationships have been built over the last 3 years would be potentially damaged if Bob suddenly becomes an authoritarian, ya know....

These players are not drilled whatsoever. They have absolutely no idea what to do when a set piece is swung in - although Robles coming in has made things a bit less chaotic.

I really do admire your enduring optimism, but I don't understand it, never mind share it.

Because it's a valid point that Everton (oh evil Martinez!!!) isn't the only team this happens to.

@hallamblue is spot on with what he says.

We should have prevented the goal - which was down to McCarthy switching off and leaving the post.

The main issue was Martinez's 'Plan B'. He introduced Kone as that plan B in order to make our play more direct. It didn't work out but we still created chances.

Sometimes it won't be your day.
We seem to be having a lot of "theses days" don't we???? Just coincidence I suppose ! :)
