Roberto Martinez discussion

F..k hindsight. I said exactly the same thing to my son at half time. The game was crying out for a different approach, unfortunately Roberto could not see it

Shocking subs today but the one that baffled me was Kone.

Osman was another too sure we had chances but how much did Roberto help with his subs ???

so frustrating

turning the corner we have won four games this bloody season at home, and only ten all together , we were [Poor language removed] most of last season as well , he is like thatcher, this fella isn't for turning he has got one way of thinking and that's it, wish he would turn the corner out of goodison and turn up somewhere else.
i have had enough of him now doing my head in.

The subs weren't the ones I would have made like.

They were breaking well and as a result there's no way I would have took a DM off as we would have been at risk of conceding further and our full backs would have to drop back and we'd lose width.
I disagree, we were so on top, we did not need two DM's, there was no threat, Lennon was gutted when he got subbed, no way was he spent either, he can run all day can that lad.

Osman and Kone, chasing a game for a goal, who makes them subs and keeps a straight face.

I know, this is my point, we're playing well and losing.
Sometimes it just happens mate. Today was one of those days.
I'd argue that since the turn of the year we've turned a corner in our defensive performances.
Before that, we were attacking well but defending poorly combined with a bit of bad luck.
We're a lot more defensively solid now.

The issue is that people can't differentiate between where we've played well going forward but were crap defensively and when like today, the other team has put in a blinder at the and mugged us off somehow.

Lukaku was going to leave even if we finished 5th though. He wants Champions League. We've thought this the day we bought him, these results are insignificant on that point (although perhaps we could have gone for the CL this year if we'd got it right).
Without his goals this season we would be in a relegation battle.

But it's happened too many times this season to be just 'one of those days'
