Your love for crappy Gibson is just as bad

Facts are facts. At least when he plays we don't lose as much. Do you remember beating West Brom in September with Gibson coming on and helping to turn the game. I don't know about you but I would've liked to have seen some more of that. You probably like losing.

Looking through your posting history your favourite words paired with Gibson are crap and overrated. This is going back pre-injury. You clearly know your footy, pal.

....good sides get behind tight defences, good teams get behind teams with 9 defenders otherwise it would be easy to defend against good teams. It's fine having the ability to break against teams away from home but until we know how to unlock defensive units at our place we won't be a top side. This isn't a one-off.

Totally agree feel like I've watched today's game well over 10 times over martinez's reign he isn't learning McCarthy & Barry against teams that park the bus are a waste of time.

...he creted openings and had a shot at goal from the edge of the area but I'm thinking more about creating chances inside the area, we rarely got beyond their back four we didn't fiz balls across their six yard box. I don't remember their keeper making a save of note in the 2nd half and we virtually had 100% possession.
Completely Agree again I can't recall us getting to the byline & crossing it. Far too many crosses from non dangerous areas which teams like west brom eat up we needed to move them & pull them out of position.

Today was bitterly frustrating - fine margins we could have been 3 points off 5th and the mood would be very different. Fact is today 34 shots - we totally outplayed them but couldn't just 1 would have ended 4/5 - all teams have days like this. Remember Grimsby.. A fair criticism of the manager was not bringing on Miralles but aside from that he like us couldn't really have done any more.

With respect, that's nonsense... he could and should have done a lot more, he's paid a small fortune to come up with at least two game plans AND be able to improvise and improvise effectively.

Even if not able to communicate the need to get wide and behind them more during the first half, he should have made it very, very plain at the interval, and he should have had words with Rom about how to get the better of Olsson who was having the time of his life making Rom look ineffective.

And he should definitely have put way more thought into his substitutions as they were, quite frankly, bizarre !

Could have been doing with Gibbo today.

We were crying out for someone who could thread passes through the web they had woven around their penalty box.

That constant stream of crosses from wide, both in the air and on the deck, were meat and drink to thise lampposts Pulis employed as a back four.

No real complaints about today's performance. Completely scabby goal from a corner. Not sure we could have done that much about it. Thought we played really well in the first half. Lots of intensity and with a bit more luck would have scored at least 2 goals. Second half wasn't as good but we still created enough to win the game.

Only complaint is the subs. Just don't know how he can get it so wrong. Kone was bad enough but Osman was unforgivable. No idea what the thinking was. Baines and Pienaar would have been a better bet to at least give them a different type of threat. Kone seemed to break up most of moves.

I don't disagree.
it just feels like we have been here before we give almost every team we play the biggest hiding they never got. Read a tweet before that it has been 0-0 0-0 then 0-1 today last 3 years.

He was correct with the starting line up today but he has had 3 years to devise a strategy to overcome pulis.

Personally I think we looked better in the first half period after they scored till half time than we did in the second half.

Plan B..plan A was fine 34 shots underline opportunities created but unfortunately our recent better players ( RB) in particular didn't make it count. Lakaku also poor today you can't just have a word and miraculously starts to perform. As earlier the subs could have been better but again no guarantee a Miiralles would have worked either, 2nd half they sat deeper making it very difficult to get behind hence why Lennons 1st half influence waned.

In so many of these games it's obvious that we need to try something different. I'm not even saying that Gibson is better than Barry, McCarthy, Besic. But he is certainly different and his variation in terms of angles and weight of pass have generally had a positive impact on the team in the past. It's not just what he actually does but also how the other players respond in terms of movement.

He's come on as a sub twice in the league in the last year for more than 15 minutes.

First time against Leicester last February 0-0. Came on at 55 minutes. Drew 2-2, would've won if not for a certain goalkeeper. Voted MotM on here.

Second time against WBA 2-1 down. Came on at 72 minutes. Won 3-2.

These are the facts. Severely underused. Even if he's off at the end of the season, we would have been better off releasing him if he's not going to even get a sniff.
