This game showed how we haven't really progressed since last season. We played a 0-0 at home to them last season and they defended exactly the same and we weren't good enough to break them down. Typical.

That was also the game that Kev missed the pen...

I think the main criticism you could have is the Barry / McCarthy pairing staying for the game when it was reasonably obvious what Pulis was going to do. Against teams that sit back and look to counter at pace (ie: most of them), one of the two (I would say Barry) should really make way.
Barry had a great game today and from what I remember was playing further forward than McCarthy

3rd home game in a row ,v them we havent scored,last 2 were 0-0

Do you mean the system that wasn't working and hasn't worked - for more than one game at a time - for over 18 months? You may be right. Otherwise no, abysmal sub. Kone should be nowhere near the squad, never mind getting onto the field. Deulofeu for Cleverley was the correct sub there, nothing else at all.

Kone and Lukaku had a thing going for a while, and we needed another striker in the box. He was the right player to bring on, he just didn't do enough.

He had a blip of good form, then has dropped off a cliff. Mind you they also made Lukaku look ordinary.

Its a shame Niasse wasn't deemed ready, as it looks like he'd have been perfect for that role over Kone.

Would agree there.

Think his tactics were sound today up until the 60th minute.

Again, I could see the logic in then bringing a player on to help Rom out, but God knows why Niasse wasn't even on the bench. Kone just ins't up to it.

he has done a bot this week about not having favourites to the media, the bringing on of Kone showed he does really, absolutely nothing for the last 2-3 months he has shown says he should be coming on before Mirallas or Deulofeu, Christ even Pienaar or Osman on the left would have been better

everton that

barry was boss
oviedo played well
jags and funes mori did their jobs well and added some stability
robles was unfortunate but had little to do and still should keep his place
mcarthy played solidly
cleverley didn't offer too much but was a threat
lennon was fantastic
barkley was off in terms of shooting but forever a threat

Lukaku was rubbish whether he couldn't handle the pressure or had an off game is debatable

Coleman yet again with consistantly poor decision making and some shocking ball control...still not the player he was pre injury

I think that is a valid point if we started that way. however we had a the run of play and they nicked a goal. After that they just sat 10 behind the ball and it is not when Kev shines. There were about 2 breaks I think after that where there was space.

I am not saying Kone played well mind you or that Osman set the world alight. I am just saying there is logic in the subs. They just didn't come off. These are the games that we miss someone like Silva that can open teams up when they are parked. We still really don't have someone in that mold that works the ball in those really tight spots in the middle of the field.
