EFC without Billy around the place would be sad IMO.

When I lived in London in the 80s he often travelled up from Euston on the ESCLA train when we played at home or around the north west.

Whatever else about his tenure as Everton honcho, Bill paid his dues as a fan, just like the rest of us.

I will shed a tear for the passing of an era when this takeover goes through, as seems inevitable now.

But then I will welcome the new people and hope we can become a force again under their stewardship

The Mirror is reporting that the deal is far from done and Everton are still negotiating with a Chinese group and another one from the middle east. It says it could take until the end of the year for a deal to be worked out.

Also quotes Martinez saying new owners will help provide the opportunity to complete projects that will help us towards the goal of CL but that change will come over 2-3 years and not right away.

“If it happens it’s going to be over three years or a period where everything is well controlled and introduced,” he said.

“I don’t think it’s going to be that drastic. If there is an investor it’s not going to be a drastic change from day one, day two. I don’t think that’s going to happen.

“What I can say is we are not in a situation where we need to be rescued or we need some sort of financial boost to save the football club. That’s not the case.

“If there are investors, it will bring the opportunity to fulfil the projects we have behind the scenes and help the ultimate dream, which is becoming one of the best teams domestically and in European football.”

More inclined to believe the echo than the daily mirror, just how many transfer stories have they gotten wrong/made up over the years about us. The quotes from martinez in that article are also laid out as to suggest a takeover is far from done, when in reality the managers talking about how any investment would be gradual in pushing us forward not right away ala man city.

.....I'm not so sure about us doing our homework. I fear there are people on the board who are simply looking for top dollar and not at all bothered about who 'buys the house'. the new owners might or might not have the best interest of the club at heart, time will tell.

I'm more concerned about the terms of the deal. More specifically, if the purchase and ground move/renovation plans are built on debt that will be recovered via club income. If that is the case there won't be much money for improvement on the pitch.

Does the price we are sold for really matter though in this case? Good for the current owners as they get more of course, but don't think it really matters to us lot.
