Your stance on Martinez AND what would change it?

I'm still in the In camp

But, he needs to show some improvement in the remainder of the season or I'll be happy to see him leave. It's too easy to blame external stuff like poor refereeing and the like, we're making too many errors.

Martinez and his staff are tasked with coaching the whole squad and making them into as strong a team as possible. They're doing a great job with the flair players, but either the coaching or the tactics ( probably both ) is coming up short on the defense. I'm not talking about Wed night and the Chelsea game here, I'm thinking of earlier games against sides with similar, or less, spending power than ourselves.

He's doing some tremendous work at the club, and bringing players on is our only hope of breaking the glass ceiling under our board, so I'd be loath to bin him, but we won't break the glass ceiling without having a solid defense. If he can't do that, or truly believes it's not important, then he's not the man for the job.

14th highest in WORLD football?

Real, Barcelona, inter, juve, ac Milan, Monaco, psg, bayern, man city, man utd, arsenal, spurs, chelski... And us?

We're missing out on an awful lot of CL on that count...

Yep, according to this anyway: http://www.totalsportek.com/money/highest-paid-football-managers/

Moyes was on just under 4 million at a time in which money was really tight for Everton, which would have made him the 11th highest paid manager on that list.

Look at the other names on that list, and ask yourself whether we are getting value for money with Martinez and his bottom half finishes? With the TV money, we now have the ability to match the likes of Liverpool when it comes to a manager's wages. They have Klopp and it is making a massive difference for them. If we really want to compete with the likes of Liverpool then we need to stop messing around with the likes of Martinez, and get a proper manager in.

60 points would have satisfied me in August. They'd likely need a long unbeaten run to get there now. Don't think there's a way back for me unless he wins an FA Cup over some serious competition (not like Arsenal beating Reading and Villa last year at the end).

Eh?

So you would rather see us have to face Arsenal in a hypothetical cup final than Hull?

No it isn't.

We're 5 points behind them.

They conceded 4 at Norwich. They're as bad as we are.

Martinez is a proper manager.

There's another thread where there are PLENTY of suggestions mate, plenty of them. My choice, out of the numerous alternatives suggested in the other thread is Unai Emery, who is out of contract in the summer.

3 things:

A) We are sitting on about £150m in Barkley, Lukaku and stones alone.. they'll be sold rather than watched to depart on a free.

B) Osman, Gibson, Pienaar about to depart.

C) the balance of our side is SHIIIIIIIT. Losing a couple of the players above ( anyone but RL, ideally) combined with releasing the lads would quickly free up £100m + tv cash.

Give it to unsworth to season close. Galloway, stones will learn bundles and the defensive wobbles will be a thing of the past.

= solid team + attractive opportunity for the ' top ' manager happy with no European football. Martinez has missed the opportunity of a life time with what he inherited. Arrogance.

As such my stance is Martinez OUT. Unsworth IN. FA Cup win not enough, just masks deficiencies, gambling away Moyes 11 year achievement.

I'll admit that I never wanted him, never thought he was up to the job, he made me look a tit in his first season, now all the stats that have been banded about by myself and others prove that things aren't great at the moment.

To change my stance it will now take a massive swing in results, over the past 18 months (61 games) we have averaged 1.25 points per game, to hit 60 points we need 31 points from 15 games which is just a shade I've 2 points per game. If he can do that then I have to give him credit. Also if he wins the FA cup that would be fantastic.
I'd agree with something like this. Top 8/Top 10 and the cup.
I'd like to see him get either not play Howard or Howard to justify his faith.
I think we've played well on and off throughout the season but haven't got results.
Some more defensive consistency would be appreciated too.

My stance is that I love the man but Im hugely dissapointed in so many things atm.
He needs to deliver a signing in this window, win from Carlisle and a win from Newcastle game. This season has been a catastrophy. Time to face the music Bobby.

Review of the coaching staff as we aint Wigan. less of the favouritism re Howard and more positive press conferances rather than babble and my view may change.

Unless there's a very significant improvement between now and the season's end I'd want to see him go immediately after the last league game. We've had almost two years of poor results, players clearly lacking fitness/sharpness, pitiful excuses for failure from the manager, obvious defensive weaknesses, and persevering with a goalkeeper who's clearly past his best.

I hope someone at the club is actively searching for possible replacements.

I want him to build his team from the back. The team we had in the 80's could play with a swagger but also won many games through grit and determination. Get a decent goalie in, and organize the defence to defend first and foremost to give ourselves a strong foothold in games. Half of our defence concentrates more on creative play than defending. We have the flair to score goals, we just need to stop conceding. If he's not able/willing to address this issue, he needs to go.

Keep kidding yourself mate. Not only has there already been an improvement in comparison to Brenda's last days, I've been round long enough to know what is coming next with that lot. I can remember people laughing at Houilier and Benitez in their first year or so at the RS, but it didn't turn out quite so funny in the end. Klopp will put his mark on that team in the coming years, and it won't be pretty viewing.

I'd take top 8 and no cup or cup and no lower than 17th. Both and I get 6 tattoos based on his image/name.
