Moyes would never in a million years have built this squad so impossible to say mate.
This is spot on.
We'd still be underachieving even if he had, we'd still have no bottle at the sky clubs.
As someone else has said... I asked an exstremely fickle Evertonian who he would have instead of Martinez and his answer was 'Anyone'... That proved he hadn't a clue.
That's not true. What about 05/06? Was 11 justified by our squad that year?Despite the fact we didn't underachieve with Moyes in charge?

Seriously? I'm not too high on Martinez at the moment but let's be realistic. 11th at a time in the league where we had finished 4th the year before. Why is it not relative to the squad strength of those around us? 11th was not even close to "probably about right". Blackburn, Newcastle, Bolton, West Ham, and Wigan should have finished above us? This thread needs to die a quick but painful death. It was probably about right for a squad of players who had ridiculously overachieved the previous season.
The fact is that Moyes was still building a squad capable of finishing in the top 8 at that point, Martinez is currently doing his best to dismantle it.
Going back to Moyes would be a step in the wrong direction for the club but doubtlessly he'd be doing a lot better than Martinez currently is.

That makes no sense at all.
Those teams I mentioned were great? Let's see where we finish this year and then resume the discussion as that early arc of 4th 11th 6th for Moyes could be equivalent to 5th 11th and ? for Martinez with possibly a trophy as well.We were not a great team at that point. It pails into insignificance anyway when you consider the league finishes following that were 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 7th, 7th, 6th.

Not really. He inherited a good defense but name one attacking player worth anything except Mirallas from the side he inherited. And then look at all the value he's brought in and those that were here that he's increased their value. Again I'm no apologist for either but my heart dropped reading the thread titles this morning. It's completely different though. Moyes inherited a team of relegation strugglers. Martinez has taken over a side challenging for the European places...
